I have a 1995.5 V6 auto 4x4. I bought it used in 1998, a few years later I decided to go full size and sold it to my dad. I just got it back in Dec when he passed away. 135k on the clock. I’m having issues decoding the Vin, it doesn’t seem to match up with what I’m finding on explanations. Looking at the title the vin is 4TAVN73F0SZ079101 . Can anyone decipher this for me?

Just got mine a week ago.

260k miles, 3.4L, 5MT, 4x4 auto hubs, manufactured July 1995. It's a little dinged up inside and out, but seems to still be running strong. The clutch was replaced about 1 year and 10,000 miles ago, and the engine was allegedly rebuilt around 180k miles. I think it's got a small lift and aftermarket suspension, but I really don't know.

fullsizeoutput_4c7.jpg edit: i have been informed and corrected. My truck was manufactured in October 95. But the emissions comply to 1996, so I have a 1996, not a 95.5

Looks like it’s probably a leveling kit like I have on mine.

Not surprised it’s gone already. They were asking $7500 69k miles. It was a 2.7 with an automatic.

I think not the built date counts as much as model year as on the title (the way it was counted by Toyota). I guess the smog sticker compliance year might be the clue if you don't have original paperwork from Toyota.

My truck shows 1995 compliance on the smog sticker

    upload_2020-10-4_8-48-16.jpg

The way strange thing is that this label shows TWC + TWC suggesting it should have two catalytic converters, but it never had two converters. I bought is used in 1998 from Toyota dealer, and besides having different tires (235 instead of stock 225) and added camper shell it had zero modifications - for sure it did not have cat delete. I only had once Cali smog inspector questioning where is my second converter, but he gave up looking for it and signed smog passed.

[IMG] I have a Toyota Tacoma 95.5. It unfortunately was in an accident and am needing some more info about it as I am arguing with insurance about it. It was in great shape and only had 173K miles. Original engine and really no rust as it has been in Texas its entire life. It is the v6 xcab 4x4 model. They are trying to use 1996 models for comps but they just not the same. Anyone give me some insight?

Is it totaled? Are you looking to get accurate value or prices on replacement parts?

This is what I call a great looking Tacoma. If not messed up with "off road modifications" it can run forever on factory original parts:). If not for ADD this would be the best combinations of options. Manual hubs gives additional use of transfer case that it beats the inconvenience of jumping out into deep mud to lock them up for getting out of the trouble (been there, done that ).
