You can do better, so don't "settle" for a Glock.

Finding any brand 9mm pistol is easier than finding 9mm ammo at less than .60 a round these days.

Glad I was stocked up before all this shit started.

So you have to be a resident of that state to buy one there? Could a relative who lives in one of those states buy one and then I buy it from them at cost as a used gun?

I wouldn’t call buying a Glock “settling”, and I was “anti-Glock” for many years!

regardless of what you think of them, The Glock 19 is the most used handgun on the planet. And arguably one of the most reliable.

That being said, skip the gen4 and get a 3 or a 5. Gen 4 trigger is my least favorite out of the box, just my .2c

Personally I would wait until well after January to start shopping, if you can. My very general rule of thumb - if the TV news broadcaster has a lot to talk about this month, gun prices go up.

I hear 9mm ammo is also quite scarce.

July 26th I paid .46 a round for a 1000 round case of 147gr Speer Lawman 9mm. It hurt to pay that much, but I got a 9mm can and needed some ammo that would be sub sonic. I've got enough 115, and 124gr to last a few years, but the only 147 I had was Gold Dot, HST, Critical Duty, and Ranger T. A little expensive for range ammo.

Just checked Ammo Seek and the cheapest non reload 147gr ammo is .76 a round... $764 plus shipping. I don't feel so bad now.

I’m 31 and until today I’d never fired anything beyond a BB gun; My friend offered to take me shooting, and we finally met up at one of the local ranges (which also happens to be a gun dealer). He rented a .22 Glock G44 (I think) to get me started, and then I moved up to his wife’s M&P 9mm. After a few rounds with that, he let me try his Walther PPS (also 9mm, but definitely more powerful than the M&P).

My verdict after trying out three handguns in an afternoon? Shooting is fun!

Also, for those who don’t know, I have a high-functioning form of autism called Aspergers Syndrome. Loud noises were a major issue for me when I was younger (for example, being around my uncle’s 1978 Harley with the engine running was impossible, and central air-conditioners also scared me when I was little), but they don’t bother me that much now.

I had double hearing protection, and I was fine, even with a guy firing his AR-15 in the next lane!
