Greetings from Wisconsin. I recently purchased/downsized to a 2012 trd sport with ~50k miles after my 2006 tundra was totaled. I use the truck for light farm work, a lot of highway driving, and some “weekend warrior” behavior.

I’ve lurked around the boards a bit and have found them very useful. Awesome resource. I’ve got my bed mat and fluid film treatment checked off the list.

I’ve ordered the bilstein 6112/5160s for the truck. I haul bales of hay/tanks of water in the bed/small trailer once or twice a week. I don’t plan to add leaf springs but if someone told me I was dumb I’d listen.

My understanding (I am suspension clueless) is that the trd sport sits 2” higher in the back on the stock suspension?
If I leave the 6112 on the lowest adjustment will I keep this stance (do I want to? I know the “pros” of having more lift, but what are the cons in functionality?

Should the drivers side be set on higher adjustment for Tacoma lean?

Any other parts I’d be foolish not to add? I came across something suggesting bump stops in the rear? I don’t crawl on rocks if I can avoid it. I’m certainly on a budget, but more than that I just want to get this right and be done with it.

    Thanks for having me!

Yes the rear has 2" of rake when stock. You can adjust the 6112s to sit up an inch or two higher than stock so you can level the truck. You could do an add a leaf in the rear if you want to maintain stock rake after that and also gain some additional lift.

2 inches of lift and some meaty tires is the best by the sound of what you want to use the truck for. Once you get to 3 inches you have to get aftermarket upper control arms.

@jacpa thanks man. And thanks everyone for the welcome. There is a shop nearby that does custom leaf spring work, I think I’m going to see what they can do for me to add a little capacity/lift to the back. If not I may try the toytec 3 leaf aal to lift the back and leave on the factory overleaf?

This taco thing is a disease.
