Hey Everyone, my dad finally decided it was time to get his hands on something newer and a little lower mileage, so he reluctantly parted with his Tacoma, and I ecstatically helped him cope by making sure it stays in the family!

He's had it since 2008 when it had only 88k miles on it, drove the hell out of it, and I picked it up yesterday with just over 320k miles.

It has just had the timing belt, water pump, radiator and alternator replaced, new battery, and I have the service records for the last 12 years save the occasionally oil change I performed for him when I thought I was a great mechanic (Spoiler: I'm not, and I'm glad it's survived this long).

Frame has been replaced due to the recall, but the spare tire mount has not - is this recall still honored? Currently the spare is riding in the bed, but I'm not eager to leave it there if I can help it.

This fall I'll mostly be using it for dump runs and hunting, but I don't plan on keeping it 100% OEM. I'll definitely be on the lookout for a camper shell, and the rust on the bumpers sounds like a perfect excuse to upgrade to something a little more robust to me. And of course that'll require some new suspension, bigger tires.. Who knows!

    Happy Toyota Family

Nah, turns out these buggers hold their value really well and getting a newer one would've been a bit more of a hit on the ol' bank account. But I at least managed to talk him out of a CR-V and into a 2012 Highlander.

Some may call it a Supra.

I call it the bane of my existence.

Welcome! The paint looks amazing, damn! Has it been repainted?

Thanks! Original paint as far as I'm aware. There is an occasional blemish here or there, but for the most part I agree, looks better than my 4R. The worst is from when the old tonneau cover rubbed against it so there are some scrapes up against the back of the cab, and then some sun spots on the hood.
