Has anyone found a good way to play YouTube or Netflix from your phone on the head unit, the internet interface is good but seems like it would be a lot easier with like a chrome cast or dongle to plug in and screen share

Someone in this thread hooked up a firestick using the hdmi port on the back. If you search it should come up.

it was a pimp setup if I recall. Powered off add a fuse and blue sea usb power adaptor tucked behind the dash? Something like that.

I was the one who installed the firestick. Just to report back after reading all of these latest posts, it is still working well. Just watched netflix yesterday morning while waiting to be called for a table. You do need to use the Amazon remote as the touch screen doesn't correlate to the firestick. This will give you almost everything you would want. Only crappy thing about this deck compared to an android is that you can not install any apps. I started the install on this truck with a 7" touch screen pioneer, to an 9" android PX6, now to the 9" pioneer. After having the 9" capacitive touch screen and not wanting to deal with the finicky android unit, this pioneer was the only real option. Most expensive head unit I have ever purchased. Just added a front camera over the weekend with an oem style push switch for powering it. Super nice, especially when off roading and coming to a decline where i used to (HOPE) the road continued! LOL Now I will know for sure.

Hey guys, I have read thru the thread and made my order for the WC6600NEX and was wondering if you guys could help me out.

I ordered the following for the install:
    Pioneer Unit
    Maestro
    Metra USB Harness
    Metra Antenna Adapter
    iDatalink ACC SAT Adapter

I believe I have everything I need to retain the factory USB/radio/GPS (from my understanding the GPS adapter lets carplay use the truck GPS for location services opposed to draining my phone battery is this accurate?)

The USB Harness won't be arriving alongside the rest of the items due to some shipping issues, my question is this: would it be difficult to add this adapter after the fact or do you recommend waiting to do it all at once?

    Thanks

You need the TO2 T Harness. It is the main harness that makes everything plug and play. It may have come with your Maestro as a package deal like mine did but you didn't list it so wanted to point it out. Also you will need an XM tuner if you want to use XM radio.

I would wait till you have everything before doing the install but you can certainly do the USB later you will just have to pull the HU out to plug it in. It's not difficult just easier to do it all at once in my opinion.

I have my usb connected but haven't used it. Tempted to try to get my maestro micro usb to the oem usb port so I can flash at will.
I think a better deal than paying for the oem USB adaptor though would be to get a toyota usb + hdmi small switch and then use the supplied adaptor for usb-c to usb-a female and a similar micro hdmi to hdmi female adaptor. Unless someone really really really likes the OEM audio small switch look and feel. I'd much rather have hdmi from phone to pioneer along with direct usb than an adaptor which does usb only and maybe also does the aux in 3.5mm jack? I'm not even sure where the aux in feed goes and who is using 3.5mm aux in these days?

Thanks for the quick response I appreciate it. Yes the Maestro comes with the T02 T harness, I neglected to mention it above sorry. Fortunately I'm young enough I don't even know why people use XM so I left it out.

    Thanks again.

Is it possible to retrofit a USB-C in the stock USB location? I don't really expect to use the USB to charge my phone with the wireless charging mat but it would be nice to have the option.

I haven't seen a toyota small size switch with usb-c port yet, but I haven't done tons of looking. That would clearly be preferable, particularly since the Pioneer even comes with a usb-c male to male cable if the port needed it. I think those will be available in due time but right now it's all usb-a ports.

You could probably take a small switch blank and glue or melt in a usb-c female-to-female coupler then plug it in on the inside and outside but I think that'd be near guaranteed to look pretty bad unless you had mad mad skillz.

Thanks for the info, I most definitely do not have enough confidence in my abilities to try and make something like that work without absolutely butchering the aesthetics.

Other options I've considered, there are some circular usb audio + usb charge plugs out there (still usb-a though) which _could_ work either in your dash if you still have the round power outlet there and are willing to give it up _or_ you could leverage the factory round hole inside the center console to plug in your phone cable there and route it out the top or keep inside a tray inside the console.

And of course you can just use the provided usb-c male to male cable, plug into the pioneer, route it down the main stack towards the parking brake and have it exit next to the driver's seat or from under the driver's seat so you can plug in direct that way rather than through the dash.

The more I look at my Qi switch and my usb switch, the more of a waste they seem. I think I'll eventually yank both and put my seat heater controls in those spots and leave myself with 2wd low, 2x seat heaters, and a round blue sea usb charger for the lower switch panel, clean and not cluttered.

I do very much envy those with OEM seat heater controls, they look quite nice up with the other climate controls but I think that piece is $$$ and not exactly an easy retrofit.

The reason I'd like to have the USB-C option is because the Qi charging pad is in a really inconvenient spot if you ever actually use your cup holders to hold anything specifically with a straw.

If you can find a USB-c that works with a Keystone-type wall plate you can easily make this happen. There's a guy on Shapeways that makes Keystone plates that fit down there.

I was wondering if anyone sells a keystone Toyota plate. That could work ok for this.
    https://www.amazon.com/AAOTOKK-Keystone-Adapter-Type-C-Coupler/dp/B07Z947FRN

I think the big takeaway is that I have legit buyers remorse on the metra usb adaptor to crappy fugly OEM usb switch.

Fortunately, I wasn't aware that adapter existed when I did my first headunit. The OEM has been gone for a while.

I have two of the Keystone adapter-switch-deals. One for an RG-45 and another for USB. They're a tight fit for the Keystone portion, but work great otherwise. If you can't find it on Shapeways let me know and I'll dig it up.

I am planning on ordering this setup but I am looking for Crutchfield part #’s list. I currently have the non JBL setup with Nav, Germes anytime camera and Sirius XM. I want to retain all these features. Are the below items correct ?

    2-American International TOYK974 Dash kit
    3-Crutchfield RCA ADAPTOR
    4-Metra 40-LX11 Antenna adaptor
    5-Metra AX-TOYUSB USB PORT CABLE
    6-Idatalink Maestro RR Interface Module

skip the dash kit, worthless. I have a post with drill locations for factory brackets. Will repost it for you or dm me

ditch the rca adaptor. I bought one. Pointless. Don’t even know where it would go.

and we are discussing the usb. I say screw the OEM usb switch, rather than converter to usb adaptor to Oem wiring to Oem switch.

key parts are head unit, maestro, maestro harness, satellite adaptors. And some way to connect wires.

edit: and antenna adaptor. That’s rather important
