2WD vs. 4WD

I'm not gonna argue that's probably what's up... I don't know tho, I've just seen "good" wraps easily get into several thousands dollars, I say good, I mean a reputable person doing it etc..

But yeah sounds like wraps the way to go for you.

Around $1500 sounds about right. A Tacoma would be pretty easy to wrap. Durability depends on several things. Prep before install, areas that have to be stretched, quality of vinyl, and UV exposure top the list. Should last you several years though. The hood and roof will fade/crack first. There will always be small areas that lift or peel around edges. Especially hard to wrap areas like the front bumper. If you’re a perfectionist, don’t do a wrap. They always look great from a distance but up close you’ll see the splices and other small imperfections. As far as caring for it. Just wash it like normal. You don’t use wax or anything like that.

He's hooking you up if he's doing for 1.4K. Look into the matte wraps and the maintenance. Heard there is more in maintaining matte than a satin type finish wrap. I would say that in your case wrap is the way to go.

Interesting what we spend on, isn’t it?

I didn’t really want the color I got but it grew on me and I’d for sure never paint or wrap it.

But spend $500 replacing chrome parts, apparently that’s something I will do.

And I probably know even less about how/when to actually use 4wd but it’s quite nice for resale and more fun in snow.

My one contribution, from others with far more knowledge, you want to pop into 4H and 4L once a month or two to keep everything happy. That basically means find dirt and go play. But I think flat straight pavement is ok too? Since I’m still on my 2nd tank of gas since May, I haven’t done much of this myself but I’ll share the advice because it seems well placed. Then again, I’ve owned several 4wd vehicles and gone years not using 4wd and never had any trouble with that.

Last, just because you have 4wd doesn’t mean you don’t want chains in snow. In case it ever actually gets cold. 4wd with chains means you can probably get anywhere in snowy conditions. But no chains and you may be sliding all over the place even with power to all 4 wheels.
