Well, OVTune has given them the keys to the castle. Hopefully they can use their institutional tuning knowledge to make the most of the combo.

Ok, somebody ‘splain it to the dyno noobie. Assuming no slippage, aren’t they both (wheel and drum) essentially direct connected to a known rotational mass/resistance which allows the calculation of power?

It could also be that there is now a lot more 3rd gen owners. Like it really feels like there is a magnitude more 3rd gens when compared to the 2nd gens. More 3rd gen owners would mean more people complaining/being disappointed about stuff.

Lots of mass to get moving. Similar to a heavy wind tunnel model. You lose resolution.

Yep. Like putting concrete filled tires on.

It will measure changes but not as well.

Some of these tires people run, they might as well be filled with concrete..

I guess if I think about it, the calc is going to be a function of (delta omega)/(delta t). Delta t is likely going to be fixed, and delta omega will be less for the heavier mass. So the uncertainty will be a little higher, but the resolution will be higher because there will be more data points from start to max rpm.

But I’m just thinking out loud so could be way off. Time to go find a dyno wiki.

Basically you can measure at the crank, hubs or wheels. Each one is going to be a different number as there is additional loss through the drivetrain with each component.

With the huge variations people have in tire size and weight, it makes more sense to measure from the hubs. It takes that variable out of the equation.

Theres different types of dynos and different tests you can run. There’s a lot more you can do than just smash the throttle and get a fancy graph.

hows reliability on these kits? More power would be nice but I'd hate for it to break down in the middle of the desert
