FYI to all you folks who support USA built Tundras/Tacomas. Starting 2021 they will move all Tacoma productions to Mexico. So buy your Tacomas now while you can

That is what I Did & why I sold my 09 Tacoma witch was the last one made in freemont ca USA so back in February I went and Got a 2020 6 speed Manual 4x4 TRD sport just for that reason

If anybody thinks the product line of a global corporation varies from one plant to the next then you clearly don’t understand how the world works. Mexican made Tacoma’s are no different than domestic.

 

Maybe between US and Mexico they are not much different, but even on TW there's a consensus that 4runners, which are made in Japan, are better built than Tacomas.

My guess is that even with the uniformed global automated production line, even if the workers were trained identically, their individual performance will be different, and that play a part in the final product's level of fit and finish, precision, and chance of defects.

If we can have robots build vehicles 100% with no human touch, I can safely agree that manufacturing location doesn't matter

This is not true. From my understanding anything built after May (excluding the 20 PRO) are already being made in Mexico. If you go on cars.com or any Toyota dealership just check the Vin Number. If it starts with a 3 your Taco is authentic Mexican if it starts with a 5 you're safe with USA grade beef lol

I would tell ya our Tacos made in the US aren't made with US parts. Yes it was assemble in the USA but the parts are not. I say the 3rd gen Tacoma parts are 40% Chinese, 10% Japanese, 20% elsewhere Asia, 20% Mexico, and 10% USA

 

Better buy one soon then. Next 4RUNNER gen are being made in the USA lol

 

I bet that the next gen 4runners will be made alongside 4th gen Tacomas, because they probably share a lot of components once Toyota bring up their TNGA-F platform. So most likely in Mexico
They already confirmed that new Tundras and Sequoias (who buys that? at that price I rather just get a land cruiser) are being built in San Antonio

 

Nope, a reputable YouTuber stated Toyota will move all production starting 2021. There are still Tacomas out thats made in Texas after 05/2020.

 

Fun fact too for the 2021 model. Long beds are now optional on the Limited trim.

 

I’ve got a 20 built in June, VIN says it’s a Texas build.
