I was checking underneath my truck and noticed this hole on what I think is the transmission case? I don't know a whole lot about cars, so I could be wrong about what this part is called.

I put 2 pics, the second circling the hole I'm concerned about. I was just wondering if this is normal? Or should I get it checked?

Also, I see cracks in the metal but I'm guessing those might be related to the casting of the part?

Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you!

Thank you both! Is it normal to have the bigger hole with that tiny one next to it? Also, what exactly is weeping from it?

Sorry for all the questions lol, this is my first time actually buying a brand new truck so I may or may not be a bit paranoid lol

Sweating is just dust collecting on residue from the engine breathing.

There's 2 seals inside the bellhousing that spin at high rpm four thousands of hours and there's pressure inside both cases trying to push oil out. So a slight film of oil usually shows up in bell housings, and road dirt just attaches to it.

No manufacturer considers that a leak, it has to be a droplet.

Thank you for the explanation, I appreciate it!

Is it normal then to have 2 weep holes? The larger of the two just looks so misshapen and not intentional when compared to the smaller one lol

It's just cost saving, they used to have a long plastic cover there for torque converter access, but now its buried under the starter. Not pretty but it works.

I challenge you to find the starter :)
