I dig the look and you change them around from what I remember, put newer stuff in older and so forth. Looks like a solid wall of get the fuck out of my way! That truck with a flatbed and some changes would be pretty cool imo

    *sigh* 3rd gen threads....

"I can't force more than 18 gallons of gas into my 21 gallon tank even though it says zero miles to empty, what gives?"

You are precisely the reason they say you have zero miles left when really you have about 3 gallons to go.

Sometimes I wonder if this is their first vehicle, ever. Or even the first time they've driven one.

More like they have too much time and anxiety. Trying to find problems with their vehicles honestly. Ill trade em the slug pre hg and head replacement if they really want issues that are pertinent :D:D

I mean...does he think he's just always lucking out at 0 miles left and cruising into the gas pump on fumes? Lol. It's like common sense thinking (I almost said critical thinking but that would be giving the situation too much credit) is completely gone anymore

All new drivers should be assigned a shitbox when they get their license. If you haven't had a leaking fuel line in your engine bay, have you really even lived?

I've wondered this same exact thing every time I see a stupid question posed.

I then wonder "how'd you even get as far as buying your truck" and I remember that here at work, there are plenty of 20-30 year olds that still have their parents here with them buying a vehicle.

When did people stop becoming adults at 18?

    No faith in humanity

People are specializing themselves into a pit of skilllessness. It's like nobody learns the basics anymore and goes straight for the masters degree in underwater basket weaving.

Basic mechanical ability and reasoning is slowly becoming a superpower.

I guess we could blame the helicopter parents.

If my dash reads 0 miles to empty, and I keep driving an additional 30 - 40 miles...does that mean I'm putting negative miles on my truck that get subtracted from the odometer?

The dodge never let me down but i poured a quart of oil in it every 2-3 weeks. Loved that old shitbox and learned a lot with the years of use. Dont blame my parents at all for getting me one instead of a vehicle off the lot. Agreed

My first vehicle I bought on my own at 18 was a Dodge Dakota piece of shit. Some genius thought a 4cyl would be good enough for the base model and it wouldn't even go up the hill to the neighborhood I lived it without a running start.

It was a terrible first time purchase but I learned a valuable lesson or 10 from it, lol

Was so base model that it had a manual trans with no RPM gauge, you just let that fucker scream until it flashed a yellow light telling you to shift before it blows up lol. I learned stick on that truck though so that was good.

haha. Thats what happened to my 82 volvo on the way to school one morning - return fuel line came loose and was spraying gas all over the inner fender. I was very confused as to why my gas gauge was going down so quickly, till i got out of the car in teh school parking lot and found a puddle of gas.

I just think it was broken because even my 2.7 4 runner has enough power

I've fixed that 4 runner like 4 times when a problem comes up as I go to start it after I clock out a delivery

The way I fix a pos is to daily it and be prepared to fix the things that come up

    Till nothing comes up

I dunno, this was a quad cab Dakota with the same 4cyl that they put in the Wranglers at the time (late 90s model maybe early 00s).

I'm sure it was in poor shape too probably but none the less, it was a total pile. I remember having a bunch of electrical issues with it about 2 months in which is why I traded it toward my first Tacoma.

I had a shitbox 64 ford econoline and it was the first time I ever ran into a mechanical fuel pump on a vehicle.. it was having hard start issues, die under heavy load all the symptoms of a bad fuel pump... but the van was SLAMMED and I didn't wanna go through the effort of dropping the tank to change pumps.

Ran for a few weeks with a 5 gal gas can and electric fuel pump in my passenger seat plumbed directly into the carb :anonymous:

Then I found the mechanical fuel pump on the side of the motor (not knowing what it was) and threaded the filter off it.. had probably a full cup of fine silt packed in the housing. Lol cleaned it and reinstalled it. Ran like a raped ape after that:rofl:
