Convert the bitch or get new wires?

While trouble shooting a rough idle and hard start, I cam across a bad wire. I was pulling the plugs to check the gap and realized that wire 2 on my 2RZ had ripped apart on the inside of the boot.

From my searches, it seems the general consensus is pick up OEM wires over any aftermarket product. Would you agree?

Second, would it be worth switching to Coil on Plug and if so, are there any diags for the wiring? I'm guessing its a wasted spark setup either way.

P.S. I cleaned the idle/speed control, wow that thing was dirty. Engine starts a lot better.

 

i would get the OEM wires myself,as for the coil on plugs....that could get complicated to probably impossible

 

My honest reason for considering coil on plug is simply to clean up the engine bay. I may be going turbo in the near future and would prefer 4 less wires. It's not necessary though.

 

Well, I will vouch for the new wires. I went to the dealer and picked up a set today. My idle smoothed out and the truck is doing great. Thanks for the input everyone!
