The cover that came on my truck broke a while ago. I am considering getting a new one, but still want the ability to put a bed rack on the back. I have seen the Retrax and Diamondback and like both. What does everyone think about bed covers?

    Thanks for feedback,
    Steve

I've got a 2016 short bed OR with a Retrax that works well, but am putting on an A.R.E shell for my dog. Could make you a really good deal on a Retrax if interested. Shell will be here soon. If interested, message me and I'll send details and pics. Good product, it does turn the bed into a vault.
I'm in the Austin area so if you want to see it let me know.

I have an OEM tonneau cover that came from a 2018 Tacoma Limited. I can't use it on my truck so I'm willing to sell it if you're interested.

This was the first mod I did to my truck over 2 years ago and it's holding up just like new. Keeps the bed dry, secure/lockable, rolling - so you can use the rack space on top easily and still have full access to your bed, and can be shipped with yakima tracks prewelded and you can put bars on as needed which would be compatible with just about any mounting hardware for yakima, thule, etc., attachments. I can put 2 kayaks and 3 MTBs on my rack along with paddles and keep the bed free for gear

Not cheap. I paid about $2k delivered including the yakima tracks, towers, and bars but it's quality and will last longer than my truck's frame most likely :)

Honestly with the diamondback you can't go wrong. Water stays out. The fit is good. You can remove the panels as you wish. Couldn't be happier with mine. Also, diamondback has an online outlet store where they'll sell slightly defective models. You can find $400 off just for slightly uneven paint.

Nice color on the truck. How much are you asking for the cover?

How difficult was the install? Did you add anything additional to help with the seal? Any leaking?

I'm not selling. Just showing off. It took about 20 minutes to install and I drove it through the car wash and there was some leakage, but not a whole lot. I've never had a bed cover that was water proof.

Install was pretty easy... maybe an hour of tinkering. Drill 3 drain holes in the bed sides, slide the canister to the rear, line up the rails on the sides and bolt into the utility tracks, use shims if needed to line it up properly so you get a good contact with the tailgate and everything is even, attach draintubes to the rails and canister and feed through the grommeted holes in the bed. Then just roll the cover out into the rails and enjoy.

To seal it up, I used a bit of mini cell foam and some black silicone to create a seal between the sides of the bed and the front of the bed because water could get in through there. I got a tailgate seal with my cover but never used it... If the truck has been sitting in a complete downpour for awhile I may occasionally see a few drops along the sides of the bed but nothing that doesn’t just roll down the sides and under the bed mat. It’s about as dry as it could be without being completely water tight. Nothing I’ve put back there has ever gotten wet in 2 years so it’s doing it’s job for me without a doubt
