Well I’m hopefully going to LOCK IN 200 acres this weekend. I’ve got great intel from hunting friends, local biologists, and wardens, of an area that has great elk habitat. Issue is that it’s landlocked. It’s a piece of public that has private on 3 sides and it’s a 8 mile hike from the 4th side through NASTY country. I called the biologists, and wardens asking for info on access and every one of them said good luck. I found a piece that’s kind of a pain but apparently gets overlooked quite a bit. Called up the landowner and had a great conversation with her. We met up today for coffee and we decided that we’d be going up to the cabin with her this weekend so I could check it out!! I’m beyond excited. I literally can’t even believe it’s happening. Her land gives me access to national forest which opens up my hunting range immensely. She even offered to let me use her garage to hang meat while I pack it out!!! Area is teaming with black bears and that season opens Tuesday. Should make for an interesting weekend!!!

Now for the nitty gritty. Her land is landlocked as well. Meaning she has private property on 3 sides. There’s only one road to her cabin but the landowner next to her won’t let her use it. She has to use a road that’s on the other side of her property and hike up to her cabin. 3/4 of a mile. I’ve got the ok from her to go up and hunt but I have to secure a good relationship with the adjacent land owner so that I may access her property through his road. Time will tell. I’m feeling confident however I’ve heard he can be a real arsehole.
