Is it possible to upgrade my stereo and still retain use of the stock steering wheel controls? I tried to search this out on this forums but to no real avail. Brand really isn't a concern would like to have the ability to have an ipod hook up, GPS, and satellite radio. Thanks!

There is a device available to retain your wheel controls. I think you can find it on Crutchfield.com.

I will try to find it over the weekend if possible. ;)

Yes, it is possible to maintain functionality. It all depends on the head unit you are planning on upgrading to.

I would pick out a few different head units and then start googling for the head unit and wheel controls.

Hmm ok. I thought I had heard there was a stereo that would just do direct plug and play with our system, something about them being the same manufacturer just different name then what the stock deck is.

Never used one before, but I've seen people post the use of a SWI-JACK Steering Wheel adapter to do what you're talking about.

Memphis PR Amp, Memphis 10" Sub, Custom Sub-box, Undcover tonneau, Pioneer DEH-P7900BT, USB Adaptor, Steering Column Adapter, Crossfire Car Audio XP2402 on the speakers. Now with dB Platinums and also custom tweeter mounts!
i got mine off e bay for about $40 less than anywhere else. I think it is a PAC Swip or something like that, it works well and I'd reccomend going to their official site for the install instructions as the ones on the pack are crap! The site gives you specifics for your truck. Mine works really well with the MP3 stuff on my Pioneer.

ok well the two head units I have pretty much picked out are the pioneer avic-d3 and eclipse 6600 (maybe the 5510). I know the eclipse is plug and play but not sure about the pioneer (currently my favorite)

The Eclipse AVN-6600 will plug right in to the steering wheel controls. The Pioneers won't. I heard that the new AVN-6610 doesn't have the steering wheel control inputs, but I'm not positive.
