right, so.. few years back i sold my tacoma to get something else to serve as support vehicle to a motorcycle. got sick of all of it, so Feb2019 i sold all of it and got a 2017 corvette..

great car, overall. except now i may do away with that also and get another taco+bike. but hell, used taco+bike still <= what the vette costs me. my questions are these..

i never actually knew; what are the actual differences/specs on the various trim levels such as "prerunner?" how can a truck be a TRD and a prerunner at the same time? isn't one implied as being included in the other? kinda like how a Z06 vette is gonna have the magnetic suspension just like a lesser grand sport version does, etc.

ive already looked at those steel laser cut products that you guys put at the front of your truck bed for hauling bikes. i'm looking at hauling 2, and frankly i'm not convinced that the head of the bed thing you guys bolt in there would work for sportbikes, which are uh, a tad heavier than your dirt bikes. what are the cool people these days using to chock/secure the front wheels?

i probably don't need a TRD at all for example, the truck would rarely leave pavement and 2 modern day sportbikes is about 900 pounds, no big deal.

    Hey PB

My $0.02. Pickups don't make very good motorcycle haulers. Harder to get the bike(s) in/out & secured than a trailer.

If you have a place to store it, you might see if you can pick up a small single axle MC trailer.

Or, heck, even one of the tiny single axle trailers they carry at L*wes/etc could be easily modified to make a decent bike hauler.

For a Tacoma and two sportbikes, I wouldn't even consider putting them in the bed. Trailer is the only way to go. But that's just me. Before you stuff any bike in the bed, read up on the notoriously weak tailgate. We could go on at length about Tacoma's option packages..... A Prerunner is a lifted 2WD that looks like a 4WD but is not. TRD is a package with various levels of equipment (TRD Sport, TRD OffRoad, etc) that varies depending on model year.

I have a Kendon motorcycle trailer that is awesome for hauling any kind of bike. If you’re going to haul a sport bike, get the Canyon Dancer to tie it down. Kendon also makes a 2 bike trailer. The cool thing about the Kendon trailers is that they stand up vertical for storage. They do show up on craigslist periodically. If you buy a used one, make sure you get the newer round tube version. The older square tube version has a higher floor which makes the loading angle steeper.

keeping the vette, based on what it costs, implies not getting a bike again so towing with the vette is out. theres a guy on "the" corvette forum that put a hitch on his car and apparently it works, not like the engine cant handle it.. but still.

i actually had 2 tacomas, first the absolute lowest base model then the TRD offroad. sure, it was steeper putting my bike in the back of the trd but just one bike is quite simple. the idea is to at some point intelligently haul 2 bikes to the track, mine and one for my gf. the truck being lower would generally be better so no TRD needed. the base was the 4cyl though and sometimes i felt like i needed someone to get out and push. a 4banger is a 4banger. so basically the smallest possible 6cyl haha, just trying to keep it to the 2nd gens as thats what i know and love. its a checkmark all the boxes kind of idea, rather not tow if it can be avoided as ill be damned if im gonna putz along at 55mph or whatever it is youre supposed to stick to, when towing.

weren't there front wheel chocks that people bolted into their truckbed or something like that?
