I was thinking the same thing, maybe an entire ECM replacement!? I know on motorcycles, our ECU’s have been locked for years and we haven’t been able to get them flashed to new tunes. Now you can get an entire new ECU, which produces much more power. And some of the ECU’s are actually made by the exact same manufacture as the OEM ecu. Wonder if that will ever be possible with vehicles. Flashing a tune is much easier then replacing though, so I hope they can figure something out.

Yes, they're smart enough to recognize that Mat's vFTuner software is literally the only option available for tuning the 3GT.

They're not using his software to be nice and throw him some cash. They're using it because if they don't, their blower units continue to sit on the shelf and collect dust lol

See above. Mag. is using OVT software to tune the stock ECM (now). That wasn't available (as far as I know) when that chart was made.

I have no idea what they used, and I don't know enough about this engine to know exactly what is possible, but you can look at lotus dynos with a tvs1900 for a good idea. It's not an exact comparison as the lotus engine has lower compression and no direct injection, but it's similar enough to know what's possible with the engine displacement.

As far as releasing the data already it's frustrating but it's not just Magnuson. You'd think if you took all the time "designing and testing" a boost application for this truck you could spend 30 minutes giving us real world 0-60mph video with data, but so far I don't see that....

Sucks it shows nothing at 2000-2500 rpm range that’s where we need torque help I would think.

    Finally, real numbers.

As for the numbers themselves, maybe the better idea would've been to simply not choose a super heavy truck to be one of the influencers, but everyone already knew that. I imagine there will be people who will continue to hold out until numbers for a truck closer to stock come out.

Before anyone says I'm just bitching and won't let Magnuson have a win, hold off. I'm just looking at this critically. I wouldn't blame Magnuson for holding out this long on letting this video go public though just based on those numbers. Those are heavy af tires and there are people who will take that 61whp as gospel for all 3GT trucks.

So this could actually be encouraging for the application of this blower on trucks closer to stock. What remains to be seen is how the tune does.

My only bias is against TacomaBeast, following that Moab tagging incident that had been getting talked about last year (?).

im not watching that vid, so maybe I have some context missing. But weight of vehicle has absolutely nothing to do with HP from a dyno output/reading perspective. If it was a 61hp increase, that’s what it is irregardless of vehicle weight.

Following my above comment, I think a lot of people expect or even demand to top 300whp for all that money spent, and TacomaBeast hitting 275 essentially means that everyone else is looking to see another 25+ whp on a stock or mostly stock truck. So unfortunately for Magnuson and this kit, they've got a lot to deliver on and they need to do it soon.

I’ve got stock tires and have around 230 HP base so I’m hoping at 32% increase it puts me at 303 HP. I’ll be happy with that for sure. I’ll see once I get it installed.

For anyone that wants to skip the fluff, watch the first couple minutes with the initial dyno pull and the last 6 after the install

This is incorrect. It's true that I misspoke WRT the rest of that heavy truck influencing the power, but the exception is the tires. I edited my original comment to correctly address just that. Bigger tires are heavy, they add weight to the vehicle, and they have a larger rotating mass which robs significant power.

Also, "regardless" is the correct word there. Irregardless doesn't mean anything.

so what happen to Mat's blower unit? He made five and decided the snails were the better way to go - even they are a work in progress - and the next batch has a higher price tag, and no CARB possibility.

would be nice if they got a normal persons truck to give us a better idea of a true dyno run.

I'm not sure what your point is? You made correct statements, and yet they don't have anything to do with my statement that you quoted.

I'd be running one of his original 5 if it was CARB. Just that.
