It blows my mind that a new pair of glasses even from Walmart costs around $350-400 dollars, and that's my costs with vision insurance. I've been wearing their new Nikon lenses, their light weight, thin, and I get all the coatings plus the lenses that change in the sunlight to sunglasses. this last pair has a permanent tint to them that I really like. Funny that they get so much darker in the winter months than summer months. I have to be careful when I first enter a house or a building, the lenses are so dark, that I have to stop for a moment and let my eyes adjust to the changes to the indoor lighting.

Mike when you get back home after a race how long, on average, does it take you to check out and inspect your car?

    oh boy.
    That’s a very hard question.
    Like this last race.
    Everything went perfect.
    However, that dont mean anything.

I do what we call a nut and bolt.
We take the body off and I start a visual inspection.
I tighten every bolt and nut.
Check and or replace Oil in engine and trans.
    Bleed the brakes.
    Check alignment.

If we are going to a different track that requires different gearing I take the trans apart
    And change the ratio.
This time we need a different set of tires. They are going away.

So to make a long story short.

Between 5 hours and a week part time this go around.

if we have a failure of engine we are done for the year.
Trans ,as long as the case isn’t cracked, about 3 weeks.

We don’t have a machine shop. It would be hundreds of thousands of dollars to rebuild and machine out engine parts ourselves.

It’s clear that you have adapted to retirement quite well and quickly. Good on you! I’d say keep up the good work but us retirees try to delete such words as work from the memory and vocabulary.

Good morning to some and afternoon to others. Quick trip to the vet this morning, Boris the 3 1/2 Golden must have gotten into a few bees last night, we woke up to a Sharpe - a shot of steroids and some allergy meds and we are now home.

    Have a great weekend everyone

Wow, I knew it would take time even if there were no problems but removing the body is not what I expected to see as part of the answer. TY for the complete answer.

    No problem Tom.
Most people have no idea what is involved.

You might be interested in this pic.
This showed the rear suspension with the rear body panel off.

I’m starting to take the trans apart and do a gear change for third.
    This was last year..

I check every nut and bolt on this car.
    Lots of people do nothing.
    Sometimes it has bad results.

Good morning, all!! 1st coffee of the day is done and ready for a reload! Lynn and I went for a ride in the Z3 yesterday afternoon. We went to participate in a drive by celebration of friends' parent's 70th wedding anniversary and then spent some time cruising the backroads on our way home. I fall back in love with this car every time I get behind the wheel. 24 years old now and still running strong.

Nice Ride I always liked those cars, but a little to pricey for my budget. If I ever win the Lottery(hahahahahahahahaha), I'm going to buy one of the new 7 series top of the line 4 door sedans for my highway cruising machine, or maybe a BMW X5, yeah I know I'm dreaming, but I've always said if your going to dream, "DREAM BIG".
