I've got a 2011 Tacoma double can TRD Sport and I had to have the clutch replaced at only 38,000 miles, which seems ridiculous to me. I have read other similar threads. Thing is, when I got the truck back it was like when I drive it off the showroom floor. It's only been a couple months and it's hard to push the pedal down again and there's some intermittent resistance to going into 1st and 2nd gear. We changed the gear oil because it hadn't been done since before the clutch was replaced and it was better going into head-to-head for about a week. It's still hard to push the clutch pedal. I've read about the bushings for the pedal causing problems? I just want it better and it's already been $1000 to replace this clutch.

Autocorrect said head to head. I didn't type that. The clutch shifted good for about a week after the gear oil was changed

There's so many variables to clutch wear, I've had to adjust pedals after replacing them to meet the new friction points, but its engagement not effort.

Did you replace the clutch because it was slipping or due to effort?

The pedal bulletin is related to squeaking, there's bushings that quiet it up, or whole pedal assemblies. It's not cheap.

In not sure how to post in 2nd gen?
The first clutch symptom at 35,000 was difficulty going into 1st and 2nd gear. My unnamed boyfriend who was driving it at the time had full size plastic truck floor mats and the pedal wouldn't go all the way to the floor- I noticed that when I drove it. I kept telling him that was the problem and finally I cut the floor mats back myself. The only reason he was driving it at the time was because my license was suspended, but that's neither here nor there...He doesn't have anything to do with it now.
I felt like it was too late after the mats were cut and he'd been shoving into and pulling it out of gear without the clutch all the way to the floor for too long. Am I being over reactive by saying this? I may be female but I've got a strong mind for problem solving and I understand the mechanics of they're explained to me. Please don't discount me because I am female! I love this truck because it is what I bought with the inheritance my dad left me, it is very special to me and I will not trade up! Nobody I know is interested in my truck problems, and that's why I joined this forum. People say I pay too much attention to details. I think they get your problem soved!
I took it to the dealer when there was difficulty getting into 1st and 2nd gear, especially when cold. They told me I needed a new clutch and I was skeptical. There was no slippage. So I changed the gear oil. a good friend of mine is a mechanic and did it for me. There weren't metal shavings, but the oil was black with metallic particles throughout. It was marginally improved for a couple weeks, but then was difficult to get into gear. So I limped it along, annoying every mechanic I knew with questions, and the dealer couldn't tell me why my clutch went bad, only that it was out of warranty. Then finally my clutch started slipping and I had to get a new one.
