    Hello Everybody,

I am looking to finally to upgrade my audio in my 4 door tacoma. Any set ups you recommend ? Definitely don't mind spending the extra buck to get the quality. Would love to hear what you guys recommend!

Without any mention of budget or the amount of work your wanting to do, that will be tough to advise on.

Came here to ask the same question. I am also curious how many people put subs and if they have any issues afterwards.

I've had sub's in all my trucks.. The access cab had a single rockford P3D4 10 and the double cab I just got has 2 shallow mount 10's

For fronts I went with Focal 6x9 ISS 690 with tweeters (inline crossovers)
    Rear speakers Focal 165AC

Currently all driven by a single amp until a dedicated mono amp is in the budget.
    Rockford Fosgate Amp. - P1000X5

Also had a Taco recurve sound processor
Noico 80 mil sound deadening matt

@BobbyB1hunned Are you planning on keeping the existing head unit? That usually is the next big choice.

Here is rough breakout of the build I did.

    1. Front focal 6x9 279.00
    2. Rear Focal 6.5 269.00 Rockford P1000X5 500.00 Sub Box 200.00 2 Shallow 10 subs 1,000.00 You will also need to add either a line out converter, sound processor to convert from line to RCA. I used and the Tac Tune EZ recurve that I had from the last truck.. I think that ran about 250.00 You will also have to add a little for amp wire / RCA / etc. This is based on keeping the existing factory head unit. Also if your going to install sound deadening that will raise the cost as well But I think that is one of the best things you can do.

Yes most likely will be looking to keep the factory unit. Sound deadening is also in my plans. Thanks for your recommendation! @JimResnikoff

Had no intention to swap my head unit either until I saw the Pioneer & Kenwood units could do this for a few dollars more.

Best bang for the buck is to replace the Tweeters only, and ad an underseat 8" powered Subwoofer. After that it's starts adding up....

I didn't see a need to ad door speakers, as the tweeters replicate most of the musical content, with the Subwoofer handling the lower octaves.

I replaced the tweeters in my wife’s cross trek with the Subaru drop in kickers, literally less than 30 mins of work. From what I understand it’s the exact same process for the 3rd gen Tacoma’s. Easily worth the price, clear and obvious difference in sound. It’s not exactly the same but it’s close enough.

If you get those Subaru kicker tweeters and add an under seat sub I think it’ll sound very good with minimal price and effort. The Kenwood powered sub doesn’t even need to be wired to the battery, you can connect it to a fuse inside so that saves you needing to pass wires through the firewall.
