hello, im new on here and I'm not all to intelligent when it comes to trucks or cars but I've had a couple things done to my 2010 Tacoma sport that I bought last year just for cosmetic purposes. Also I may sound a little dumb because I'm just learning about this stuff. One thing I had done was new 18in rims put on the truck. I belive they are 18 buy measure at 18 1/2 and the tire says 17 which I didn't realize where thicker and after they were installed I felt my tire was a little to close to my bumper and the mud flaps had to be removed so the tire didn't rub on them. Then i decided I should probably lift the truck a bit so I don't have any problems and I heard blocks weren't good for the truck so I had bilstien 5100s installed which gave me the lift I needed. Now months later I'm thinking I'd like to have some bigger tires which will probably create the hole rubbing problem again. With that being said. What would do you think I should do to get a proper lift for bigger tires but without haveing to remove and replace what I've already had done?

I should also add that I typically use my truck for street use. I'm a contractor and I live in LA CA so I'm not romping around in the mountains. However, I'd love to do that with my truck at some point but since it is not a 4 wheel drive truck or does it have a rear differential im would geuss i cannot do to much off roading without tearing it up. But I do want to have the ability to do some light off roading if possible. Thats another reason why I would like some all Terrain tires. And I am open for any suggestions from you professionals on what tread/ brand of tires I should purchase based on what I typically use my truck for and what I would eventually like to use my truck for. I appreciate any help I can get. Have a great weekend.

Your truck is a "PreRunner" which is rear wheel drive only, but has the same suspension that the 4 wheel drive trucks have. If that were my truck, I'd leave it just like it is, it looks fantastic. Bigger tires are going to mean more suspension work, most likely upper control arm replacement on the front to give more clearance, plus whatever you do to lift the truck. I think it looks fine as-is, love the wheels. Plus if you lift it more, getting stuff in and out of the bed will be harder. You may not enjoy the ride quality as much either, and maneuvering in traffic won't be as easy. If you really want something later to beat up on trails, get a second truck for that purpose.
