Interesting build you got going on. Are you going to make the electronics work with the engine as well? Nice to know that this v8 fits straight up to the a340 series trans.

As far as the body ecu I'm trying to keep as much as I can. For the a340e it actually came with the v8 so it bolted right up to the stock tranny mounts. I am going to control it on my own though to make it fun.

Thanks I got it from a guy lol

So I've been slowly working on it. Most of the wiring is done now including some of the gauges. I am having issue with the trans not shifting so I'm slowly going through all the trouble shooting. I did have to tear down the trans to change output shafts so I'm hoping it's not from that. I'm going through the valve body first in hopes that that might be it.

I did also get my crossover pipe built and attached a cat and resonate just no muffler yet

    Also heres a short clip.

I'm halfway through mounting the radiator and am still working on the trans but after that the real fun will begin.

well sonuvabitch. now i need to buy some headers for my LS400.

Fun fact, the heads on the 1UZ are interchangable left to right or ambidextrous if you want to look at it that way. part numbers are the same.

what are you using for a shift controller?

the early 1uz's in the LS400 came with the a341 behind them which is just a regeared a340.

Soooo the eBay headers turned into a nightmare with the steering shaft. I had to cut and weld the driver side alot.

I'm using an arduino for my shift controller.

No shit!?! I'm looking to do the same but using a RPi to achieve pwm, in my tacoma to use the paddle shifters on the Corolla steering wheel I just installed.

Any chance you got a pic of it setup? Did you just research on the speeduino forum and go from there? If you could point me in the right direction that would be awesome. If I can get that dialed in, then I'd probably swap a newer IS350 steering wheel with paddle shifters into my LS400.

Yeah I talked to my buddy about the 2uz headers and he said the same thing. He had to basically cut 2 tubes of the headers and move them slightly to allow the steering shaft to run through the middle of them.

So I'm currently working on some issues with my transmission and haven't finished the wiring for it yet. I plan on running my a340 manual the whole time for now so no pwm. Eventually I'll complicate it with auto. For giggles I'm going to use a sequencial shifter from a racing simulator for the forward gears.

Once I get everything ironed out I'll post everything I did with plenty of pictures.

    I am here now .
I have a nice book showing all the solenoid controls and when they are powered up and powered down .
This type of project is something I dont do everyday , therefore I also need to hit the literature before I begin rambling off crappy answers or just bad information lol
Sending the book to 5 Lug Fury

From there , we will both be on the same page and can try and work this out together .
    Awesome project !!!!!!!

Finally got back into the transmission.

Missing a few teeth on the right disc and once I removed the section it was in the transmission moved freely.

I want to replace the both of the discs from the overdrive direct clutch and I think once I do I'll be back in business.
