Yeah. It’s gonna give them more room inside the drums for bearing oil. A special kind you can only get in tin cans at the dealer for like $175 a litre. Made in Japan.

Yeah but I thought the 4th gen was getting a titanium alloy frame. No rust

Toyota will find a way to make Titanium rust. Trust me on this.

I’ve had both gens... My second gen trucks were great, but I definitely like the 3rd gen better!

I have had both gens, still have a 2nd gen. Sold the 3rd gen because in my opinion the quality has gone down slightly with the third gen. Nothing major of course, just little annoying issues. I prefer the second gen as I have had less issues with it and quality seems better. The third gen is a good looking truck though.

The 1st gen tundra is probably the closest truck I ever had to “perfect”.

the size is great. Plenty of space in the access cab config (at least for a dog), you get a 6’ bed, and they don’t look too bad either. It’s a pig at the pump, but it beats the hell out of the new ones in terms of ease to daily drive.

Nah you get used to the new ones pretty quick. Plus.... In tow/haul mode and S shift mode .... They can freaking LAUNCH

Granted, trucks aren't built for drag racing, but damn....

The only time I'm embarrassed to be an American is when I see what Toyota builds for us (because it's what we need and want) and compare it to what they build for other countries (because it's what they need and want).

Land Cruiser Prado.... Which apparently we're getting in 2022.

The Hilux has some cool engineering feats that the Taco could benefit from, but overall both trucks have the same level of toughness. And the Taco is more comfortable to drive.

Although those work trays/ute beds would be cool af....

The 3rd gens interior is more pleasurable to be in than the second gen. The 4.0 in the 2nd gen has shown in self to be solid with mine getting close to the 200k mile mark with only a starter being replaced and having to repaint the fenders, hood, and roof. I didn’t have that great of experience with my 96’ 2.7 Taco or 96’ 3.slow 4Runner. They both blew head gaskets around 165k. So the 3rd gen has some work to do prove the engine/transmission as good as the 2nd gen to me since the chassis is pretty much the same.

and considering Toyota canceled that color in 2018, you have a rare truck in need
