This has worked on many different 200 dollar head units I have had over the last 25 year but not my new Tacoma with a non premium head unit I want to run my iPhone 8 which has no cell plan so basically a fancy iPod connected to the USB input port to play my 15,000 odd songs, And I want Bluetooth to connect to my daily use IPhone 11 that is my phone. I don’t play any music ever off this.

So when I shut the truck off, grab my iPhone 11 and leave life is good. I return to the truck fire it up and the always in the truck hard wired iPhone 8 resumes the song it was playing. My iPhone 11 gets a call? The call is answered. Hung up and the iPhone 8 resumes playing music.

Pretty simple. It’s all I want. The iPhone 8 HAS to be hardwired as I hate Bluetooth sound quality. Once I plug in my iPhone 8 to the USB port, Apple Car Play disconnects Bluetooth resulting in no hands free phoning. There has to be a fix for this.
