    Firstly, they market themselves as an alternate to hanging stylish shackles, not a means of recovery.

    Secondly, they aren’t recovery rated.

    Thirdly, they are secured by a single bolt against the radiator reinforcement which is one of the weakest places on the truck.

    Nope, are you joking recommending those for recovery points?

    That's cool, you can do that, but you're wrong.

    Hurts when you buy it, but not when you actually need to use it

    OP, why do you want to get rid of that hook? That's the "TRD" hook. It's pretty much the best option for front recovery outside of a plate bumper with two recovery points. You can loop a recovery strap right over it and they don't slip off, I've done it many times. It's very strong. Removing it in favor of something 3rd party that accepts a D ring is a downgrade in my opinion. It doesn't make sense to needlessly add another link in the chain, especially one that important.

    as long as the strap or soft shackle is the weakest link, it won’t hurt adding a quality d ring attachment point. Quality is key

    I did not recommend them. I was simply asking if you were just trying to be humors.

    No, those should not be used as recovery points.

    I've got the SOS recovery point.. Haven't had to use it yet but it's stout. I had to purchase new bolts as my stock OR bolts did not work. Damn, that ARB one is beefy.

    I once thought that I was wrong . . .

    But I was mistaken . . .

    :rofl::rofl::rofl:

    OK. So they're NOT really good for recovery. :facepalm:

    I didn't think that hook was rated for recovery. I'll consider the information before I go changing that hook out. I may even end up going with a new bumper.

    Does sos use the 2 bolts or 3? I think bpf uses 3? And
    They are for a tow, nothing in that location is ideal for a snatch style recovery.

    It uses 2 bolts. BPF is probably a little more secure, but I've got some buds that have used the SOS one without issue. Not ideal but better than nothing.. Obviously use your best judgement during certain recoveries..
