ARE Shells. V Series with Windoors VS. CX-HD

Thinking about swapping my tonneau and rack set up for a cap and I'm torn between the two models.

Both come out around the same price, the only difference being below:

V series: $2650 + tax
1. Windoors on both sides
2. Side channels + cross bars

CX-HD: $2675 + tax
1. Standard sliders on both sides
2. HD bracing and HD cross bars

So I'm torn between whether I want windoors or the extra bracing.

The truck isn't used for anything other than daily commuting, lots of camping, sking, mountain biking, etc. I do have a dog but he has such bad separation anxiety he would never sit in the bed without tearing my stuff up but windoors seem useful. I called and they cannot add windoors to the CX-HD because of some recess and it hitting the HD bracing, but I swear I have seen them online...if I can indeed its about 200 bucks a side for windoors putting the CX-HD at 3075 + tax...

Edit: The dealer also has a used V series with all standard features...for 1200 + tax. Adding tracks and cross bars I believe would be 500 putting me at 1700 + tax OTD.

 

Get the bracing. Find windows later

 

I wasn't aware you could get windows later? Also the dealer made it seem like windoors or even an aluminum t slot door would not fit against the bracing?

Also mentioned plenty of people are throwing RTT's on non reinforced caps, but still makes my feel bad thinking about 150 lbs up top swinging around while I go down a trail.

ARE CX HD. Didn't want to worry about weight of RTT and 2 people. 500ish pound rating.

 

Oh some bitch, looks like you have windoors?! How much were you quoted for that?

the price above I have configured with
-Folding and sliding front window
-head liner
-single LED strip, no prop switch
-Standard sliding doors
-Standard rear door, single t handle.

Edit: also that's a very similar set up I had in my head. Top, drawer system for the stuff I always carry when doing whatever activity for the season, crap on top, tent above.

 

Mine came out to $2630 including double windoors, sliding front window, HD roof rack, paint matched, installed, taxes.

 

Wow, that's a solid price compared to what I'm being quoted here. You're getting windoors, and tax for the same price I'm getting without...

 

Shop around. I emailed close to 10 shops. Just include exact specs/options and VIN in your email to get a quick response. I saw a difference between $50-300 from the 10 places I contacted for the same product.

 

Yup, I've emailed about 5 dealers now between ARE, Leer, and snugtop dealers. So far I'm liking the ARE CX-HD best...
