Fair enough. It's crazy what Ford wants for the V8 upgrade in that car. The new ones are just as bad; like $26k for the Ecoboost and $35 for the GT.

$2K is for the motor. $7K is for the badge.

Exactly. To upgrade from the 2.7EB to a V8 in an F150 is like $1000.

And nobody gives the GTs a second look, but this is unique and interesting. I bet it gets lots of attention at the cruise-ins.

It's not like they are 2 identical cars with the only difference being the engine though, lots of other upgrades to go along with the bigger 5.0 engine option.

That type of thing is normal for all car companies to do, direct competitors for the Mustang are no different.

Both very true. I just miss the days when you could option a base car with a big engine, that's all. Now there's a ton of other stuff that gets lumped in to the 'package' for the larger motor.

I do too, there must be no market for that type of car any longer, kinda like a single cab pickup.

    Right.

That's the way they do Manual Transmissions today too, it's either a bottom basement zero option model or the top model loaded with everything.

Yeah, I was looking at Civics a while ago and ran into that. If you wanted to row your own it was either a bare-bones economy model or a $30k premium sport package

I am sure the manufacturers could sell more Manuals if they packaged them better, but they seem content just phasing them out.

Hey, if I can get all the goodies for $9K less and the only downside is the V6, that's not really that hard a decision.

True enough. There is also different suspension, exhaust, and brakes. Funny enough, there was a brand new GT there getting all the Ford Racing suspension and brakes installed before delivery when I went to pick mine up. I asked about all the zero miles take-off parts from that car, and they just gave them to me.
One bonus to buying the absolute base car at that time...it has no nannies (TCS, ABS, or other BS). To be honest, I've never been a big fan of the 4.6, or Ford's modular engines to begin with. The new 5.0, and especially the 5.2 are kind of changing my mind on that. Would still prefer a GM LS based engine though.
It would be nice if things were still like the Fox Body days, where you could order a base LX Notchback with the 5.0, and not have to spend GT money to get a V8.

Nice that you were able to score all those goodies for your car! Outside of the 32V Cobra motors I have never been much of a 4.6 fan either, however if I ever smoke the motor in my car I would seriously consider a Coyote swap.

Thanks. I don't do a lot of cruise-ins or shows, but when I do, it's kind of funny to watch "car" people check it out...I can often see their lips move as they're counting header tubes, or spark plug wires in their head. The general population don't even notice it's a 6.
