Hi everybody. Im a new tacoma user here. I own a 2019 offroad tacoma but I noticed that my truck seems to have a smaller tank size. I would like to know if toyota make 2 types of fuel tank size? I made the numbers and when the lighst of gas comes on I can only fill 13 gallons instead of the normal 17 gallons. I know that when lights pop ups. I have 4 gallons more

    appreciate help! Thanks everybody

    Welcome to TW.
Are you on the fuel pump recall list?

Yes, there are select set of vinyl numbers that have a fuel pump recall. Can put you vinyl into the Toyota website and find out, or ask a dealer.
Not sure if a clogged charcoal canister could cause this issue. Happens when you top off the tank a few too many times.

Yes. I just put the VIN on the site and is eligible for the recall. But anyways. I dont think that fuel pump will cause my tank to fill less gas on there. The cluster indicates that the car is full of gas. The mpg is good. Im not using more or less than the spec of the car

The float Is attached to the pump, could be stuck triggering a sensor to shut off or something in the evap system that's causing the pump it to stop short.
Just throwing out ideas. It's a isolated plumbing system, just like power steering

You're driving 168mi and dumping in 13gal? That is just under 13mpg. If you have stock wheels, does that correlate to what the computer is telling you?

That's fucking aweful lol what's your MPG? Mods? Weight? Did they repair the rear damage with a different tank? You have a picture of the entire underside of the tank so we can see how long yours is?

I have a similar issue as well lol. As an experiment, I ran my tank to (almost) empty, refilled it to its max and it only filled up 13 gallons. Apparently its a factor in the fuel pump recall which my vin is on the list for.

What is almost empty? Fuel light coming on, DTE says 0mi, or beyond that? Typically, the fuel light comes on with about 18gal used and DTE at zero is about 19gal used.

I could be entirely wrong here, but the fuel light is triggered by the in tank float. DTE at zero would be triggered by measured fuel flow rates in the computer. Neither of those should be affected by the pump as it is just a two wire motor that kicks out more fuel than is required using the pressure regulator and relief valves. It is not a servo or stepper.

Interesting. With the recall and the nature of it, it wouldn't be a good idea to run it dry with a jerry can to get you to gas station, but that would be only way to know for sure.

Just for info, here is a replacement pump that cross references with Tundras as well as little Hondas and Mazdas:
    https://www.deatschwerks.com/9-307-1026

OVT is using a version of this pump for the TT kits.

Just a basic EFI pump with some quality upgrades.

This would be the cheap Taco pump:

The computer is always telling me more miles, but computer always wrong. When the empy lights comes on. The dash says that I have 28 miles left. The point is that I can never fill the tank with more than 13 gallons. Dont know why. Should I try to change the fuel pump? Or ran the car until the gas tank goes empty

Hi. Just steel rear bumper, 17inch wheels with 31 size mud tires, dnt know the weight of the car. They didnt repair the gas tank. I inspect it verry well. The damage was only the tailgate and bumper. It will be a hardcore damage is the accident would hit the gas tank.

Like I said, I don't understand how this relates to the pump itself. You might just want to live with it until you get the recall done and test it to empty. Or, put your VIN in the Toyota Parts site and see what it says about your tank?
