One part of m/c clutches that make them great for wear is that most all are wet clutches. They can be slipped with little wear and don't really cook. That said, a dry clutch motorcycle is fun in its own way also.

The MT Taco is very easy to drive. And, there are small improvements to be made once you are used to it.

In my driving life having about half MTs and ATs, I can easily meet or beat the sticker estimates driving normally in an MT, esp the average which ends up being close to the Highway number. In our ATs driving gingerly, the estimates are move of a goal than a reality unless on a long road trip using cruise control.

Costco buying is really solid. Give it a shot on your next go. There's zero pressure. We got an extremely good deal on our Subaru with it. I also tried with the Taco, but the dealer was playing with the offer sheet. I ended up buying at a different place.

I wouldn't expect any change until the 4th Gen, but they did pull out the rug on the SR 5MT at a really odd time.

It's pretty accurate. Back in current year 2017 I wanted a manual and tested the AT just to be fair.

Rep told me it was all in my head. I made him jump in my 2011 AT.

He only called me for MT trucks after that.

How long does your clutch typically last you?

On the dry clutch motorcycles? About 50k. Usually the basket, friction tabs, or splines are the reason for replacement. Not the friction material. Heck, on my Russian PoS, the splines were toast in about 16k because I suspect they were not heat treated. The CF friction material had barely any measurable wear.

On our cars that we bought new and sold or bought used, we never had to touch the clutches other than fluid bleeds or the ADM on the Taco. I am not expecting to touch the Taco clutch for a long, long time. 200k maybe, if then?

Been driving for closing in on 40 years owning no automatics along the way, only had to replace 1 clutch on my used Scirocco. I did have a clutch fork break in my Golf due to a casting flaw and went ahead with replacing the clutch just cause I was in there.

Good to know. I always hear stories about people burning up the clutch and it never occurred to me when you would typically replace one.

I'd love to have a bit more feel / bite to the Taco clutch, but I have no reason to mess.

A person I knew used to swap clutches every 20k in their Civic. It was always wound up to about 2k then the clutch was let out over a few seconds. The reasons were obvious.

If you play the game of keeping the clutch disengaged the minimum amount of time and try for shifts that are AT smooth, that is pretty much all there is to it. You'd be unlikely to ever see the inside of the bell housing.
