Took mine in for my first service and will never be back. They over torqued the shit out of my oil filter housing.

On my first car a grand marquis, the mechanic overtorqued the oil filter and I had to jam a screwdriver through it to get it off.
If you ask I guess everyone is gonna have a stupid story or horror story.

I wouldn't necessarily say it was a bad experience. I just wasn't expecting them to say they couldn't troubleshoot an issue while the vehicle was there. It just shows the staff performing the routine maintenance are not Toyota trained service technicians. I know it saves the dealership a ton of money by paying minimum wage workers to perform routine services instead of trained technicians. It doesn't provide confidence though in the skill of the person working on your vehicle. In the past I've brought cars in for routine services and they've found this or that wrong that wouldn't have been noticed by an untrained technician. It was fixed under warranty while I was there and prevented any headaches down the road. I'm also used to having the vehicle connected via the ODB at each routine service to catch any error codes (or flashed ECUs ) before they become problematic, not at Toyota I guess.

Maybe I just need to lower my expectations :D

Potential hood latch fix: turn the black bumpers under the hood by the headlights clockwise a turn or so, then try it again.

I just had my 15K service. Same weak ass attempt . Free tire rotation. Dealer questioned me when I told them I don’t want truck washed. A- they do a shitty car wash and my truck is dirtier / water spots after they wash. B- I want to ensure my tires are rotated .

WhaT I have found it depends On the actual dealership. My first two years of ownership I went to the Toyota dealership that I brought my truck from. After two years of taking my truck there I found out they were cutting corners on service. Like tire rotations they fail to perform or charging me for stuff I later found out I did not need and then I noticed the service techs working on my truck were very young and fooling around laughing while working on my truck. I decided when I was out of town to take my truck another Toyota dealership and the experience was so much more professional and they told me exactly what was wrong with my truck and charged me a decent price. They also ask me who worked on my truck in the past and I told them Toyota back home. They shook their heads and said they really screwed up my oil filter and it required a special tool to remove the filter. I will start taking my truck to this dealership although it is out of town

My 5k service was a 3 hr tire rotation. Since my Toyota care ended, I’m doing my own maintenance.

Same experience for me at my 5,000 mile service. I'm going to another dealer for the 10K service.

I marked my trans check plug. Never touched it. Got into a lil scruff with homeboy and he gave me free tint. Wasn't too bad in the end haha

I marked my tires. They were rotated. I’m coming up on my 1 year/10k service probably later this week. Mileage is only around 6500 but I’ll get my free oil change and check it before I leave. I’ll do everything myself after the freebies.

My dealer put an oil change reminder sticker on my windshield when I bought my Taco. It says they change the oil at 5K so we'll see. I'm normally not a fan of those stickers but on my Taco it's not in my way.

when they did my first service i was in their waiting room about an hour. They told me nothing except when my truck was ready....didn't get any invoice...nothing. I did notice they rotated my tires...not sure if they even changed the oil, and filter. I did complain ahead my odo was reading fast. Whatever they did its now perfect...reads dead on. I guess as long as your not paying for the job directly, they haven't an obligation to say anything what was done.

Keep your expectations intact and either do your own maintenance or find a different dealer. This place wasn't even smart enough to lie and tell you they'd "look into" your hood latch issue

The person who did my 5K service last weekend put the filter back on and the little cap thing cleaned up the area......then I noticed the brand new clean filter cartridge sitting there by the truck!! When I got done fixing that mistake I did the rest of the 5K service.......
    :annoyed:
