Does anyone have experience using the "RAM® Mirror-Mate™ Ball Base for Chrysler, Ford & Toyota" (https://www.rammount.com/part/RAP-B-369AU) to mount something such as a HAM radio? This is similar in intended purpose to the bird dawg solution, however after reading some of the posts related to that in horror I'm trying to understand if the concept is bad, or if there may be some issue unique to the bird dawg product. I've not been able to find anything good our bad about the RAM solution.

I'm a bit of a low profile, avoid obtrusive solutions person, so the idea of using a RAM suction mount is less than ideal to me and there's no way I'd want to drill into any of the dash sections to mount something else. I did find another potential winner from RAM, they make a ball for a go-pro mount and I have several of those including one already on my window for my go-pro.
