I explain it by saying those getting 30 mpg are on an absolute flat or downhill road at 65 or less, looking at an indicated trip of only 20 miles on the display, with a light foot, a tailwind, and bullshitting the rest :D

Cruise sucks and most report better economy with no cruise.

My best full tank average ( calculated by hand ) was 26 MPG using cruise control, at 70 MPH.

All other overlooked variables aside, were those numbers corrected for your tire size? And was that calculated mpg or was it from the dash readout?

I have a DCSB manual here with 265/70/17C KO2 with a camper shell and prinsu racks.

I am super conscious about mpg. Just a stab in the dark here but mpg reduces significantly for me at higher speeds (assuming all flat/no wind etc). I take two alternate routes home from work, basically freeway with a speed limit of 65mph but everyone going +75. The second is a single lane backroad with a speed limit of mph.

At 65mph flat I can usually eek out roughly 19-22mpg, but at 50mph I get closer to 25-28mpg. I think around 60mph our trucks have a lot higher drag coefficient, kind of like why a Bugatti Veyron needs 1,200 HP to go 249 mph and a Ducati MotoGP bike takes 230 HP and hit +210 mph.

I also had a TJ Wrangler 2.5l 4 banger with 31”s that could only get 12mpg on the freeway because I had to rev up the rolling equivalent of a brick trying to maintain 65 on the freeway.

33" tires? Whats the height on the stock ones? If the speedometer hasn't been corrected a taller tire with show lower miles per a set distance which will show a lower mpg.

I’ll definitely look I to this. Yesterday I crammed 17 gallons into my tanks and the range showed 250 miles. That was a first. Usually anywhere from 237 to 243.
