New Member: 2017 DC SR5 to 2003 DC PreRunner TRD 2WD

Greetings from San Antonio! My name is Rob. I bought a 2017 SR5 in 2018, and I’m starting a new business and didn’t want payments anymore.

On Monday, I just bought my uncle’s 1st gen 2003 DC SR5 PreRunner. He took REALLY good care if it, and I stole it for $4500!!! It’s got 197k and has had all recommended maintenance.

I loved my 2017, but there’s just something about this clean 1st gen...probably that it’s paid off! Lol!

It’s pretty stock, really clean, and runs perfectly. Aside from a couple minor dings and scratches, it’s incredible. Tire size is 265/70/17. It’ll be my daily driver. I’m changing the timing belt and water pump this weekend. I’ll also be restoring all the fender flares and other black trim.

Help/Suggestions:

I’m torn between keeping it stock or doing some tasteful mods. Want to mod the grill, add better bumpers, maybe some lights, and a sound system at a minimum. Thoughts? I can’t go all out as it’s my daily driver.

Is there a good thread on restoring/repainting the center console? Couldn’t find one.

Thinking of swapping 2017 rims to the 2003. Thoughts? I should Photoshop it really quick!
