I noticed a couple similar spots as such on the front of the engine hood while looking at my tacoma today....gotta admit this alarmed me, but after inspecting them further while wiping the spots with a wet cloth...these spots came right off. Looking at this closely it apparently was some sort gritty piece of rocky material that was kicked up on my dirt road from the pickup truck ahead, and struck the hood. I'm thinking the ceramic coating on this truck did its job. If it were my old tundra i'm sure it would have been another dinger to fill in.

    I had it. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/im-going-to-make-you-have-to-check.596248/

Ordered some Gemplers Rust Converter and fixed it right up. First vehicle I've ever had all these issues with but I really don't care anymore. A to B is all I need it for. Pour in the gas and go until it dies from some other 3rd gen problem.

That's what I'd do too if not a warranty deal

Toyota would say you hit something, scratched it and it is your fault. Sucks.

SSO hybrid bumper, Warn winch, RCI skid trilogy, RRW sliders, everything in the cheap/free mods thread, and of course the frame recall work.
I have the same thing. Just need to get off my butt to fix it.

How far are you out of warranty? I'd bring it in with the TSB and see if Toyota will do anything. Worst they say is no.

Fixed my truck for the same problem. I believe it should be covered for the 5/60 warranty duration.
