I went to two dealerships this past Saturday and ended up having the 2nd telling me they were going to get a white 2020 SR5 brought from another dealership.

Monday morning I get a text saying that the white one was sold and that they could get an identical spec magnetic gray metallic SR5.

    In 15 days. :frusty:

What’s the deal with the wait? I wish I could wait a few more weeks for a 2021, but I can’t due to how many miles I’m driving on an old, high mileage bow tie.

    What would y’all do?

If you really want white, I’d wait, but not sure when another one will pop up for you. If you’re looking to just get into a new truck soon, I’d go ahead and get the MGM one. I drive by my local Yota dealership everyday, and there’s not a single Tacoma on the lot.

I went to Team One in Gadsden and their used car manager was an arrogant prick and refused to do any sort of price negotiation on a used ‘17 with 40k miles.

After that we went up the mountain to Sand Mtn Toyota and they had a few used models in but a new 2020 was only $2800 more than a used ‘18 with 50k miles on it.

As for the color, I didn’t necessarily want the white and am happy about the MGM color.

The resale value of a Tacoma is so high that it doesn’t really make sense to buy a few year old used one. It’s always going to be within a few thousand of a new one. Plus your interest rate is going to be higher on a used vs new one.

    Coming soon

This was my experience. When I started looking in spring of 19, I knew I wanted a 3rd gen, didn't want a 16 since that had a few more problems and that left me with most of the ones I found, close to the price of a new one. When I hadn't found one by July, they announced the 2020 and I liked the changes. I went to my local dealer when they got some in so I could at least test drive close to what I wanted. I figured out what options I wanted told the dealer. They couldn't get one on trade in Alabama's "region" and would have to order it for MSRP and it would take 2-3 months. I ended up finding 3 in Tennessee. I found out Tennessee is in a different Toyota "region" so they tended to have different optioned Tacoma's than Alabama and Georgia.

If you can't wait, I would suggest expanding your search area out further. 2 out of the 3 dealers I spoke with in Tennessee were very willing to make a deal and help figure out either me getting to them for the truck or getting it to me.

I think I’ll deal with the 15 days. It’s not going to kill me to wait, I’m just a severe type A personality.

    Just wondering...

What do y’all think of the domed tailgate letter inserts?

ETA- and the black overlays for the chrome Toyota, V6, and SR5 decals?

I say that because you’ll get some people who don’t like the chrome, some that think blackout is overdone, and some that debadge the truck. So do what you like. And you can always change your mind after a day, or a year. It’s your truck

I got the same run-around from Team One on a MGM, Black or White 4x4- and I'm an employee.

Sand Mountain offered me 3k under low wholesale for my trade-in, and Hoover didn't return calls.

I went with Serra of Decatur- they found the truck I wanted in 30 minutes, had it on-site in 3 days, and now I'm driving it.

Wish all of our dealers were that helpful.

We loved working with Victoria on my wife’s vehicle. Not so much the used car manager.
