a lot of complaints on here about the stealership dinging up wheels, hopefully that doesnt happen to you. Remember, the stealership has the lowest paid techs performing the oil changes and tire rotations, not the master techs.

When you do go for your 10K, make sure they actually change the filter and not just the oil.

OP, the Magnusson Moss warranty act says that if they deny a warranty claim because of mods, they have to prove the mods caused or contributed tot he failure. For example, if you exhaust leaks, well they're not going to blame your 33's. If your wheel bearings go prematurely, maybe

Found to today that toyota will only change the oil if under 10k under the toyota care program. They are not obligated to change the filter.

There's a good sticky on this site that says why the M-M Act won't help in many practical situations. The long and short of it is Toyota has time and money and may even be able to require your truck not be driven while it gets sorted out, dragging it on for months and causing you to tap out.

Yup, can confirm. They only drained and refilled my oil on both toyota care oil changes. Then left the oring off the plug and tightened the filter and plug to thor, god of thunder torque. :annoyed::mad:

They put a big ass oil stain on my seat trip one. Then it took 2 tries to get the stain out. Trip 2 they put the filter cover plate for my RCI skid on upside down and cross threaded the bolt. Trip 3 they somehow bent a 90 in my rear license plate.

I said the same thing to the service rep when he said they checked my drums. We walked to the back and I said "you must've had a helluva time finding them, because they're long gone. Awkward silence.

I believe there was something a while back about someone whose whose wheel came off while driving because the tech didn't tighten the lugs.

Per the Toyota web site, it states that Toyota care includes oil and filter.
But then the brochure said the 2020 Tacoma’s with the tow package comes with a transmission cooler ( they secretly deleted it part way through the model year ) so who knows what they will really do when you bring it in.

I get pissy because in the afternoons when I have my appointment they are usually out of complimentary butter pecan flavored coffee. I have to take a cup of French Vanilla like a damn peasant. :censored:

At least my tires get rotated though.

Had my 1 year service done today. 6,300 miles. Spec sheet says they changed the oil and filter, new gasket etc. looked at my Acces plate on my pro skid plate, and their were some oily finger smudges on it and no apparent damage to the bolts. So I’m guessing they changed both. Don’t think they rotated the tires, but that’s fine, they just did that like 3000 miles ago lol. I’m in Chicagoland and went to Continental Toyota. So far they haven’t wrecked anything. I checked the oil and did a good once over before I left the lot...

i lost 2 lugs and found a hand full of them not torqued properly. found one of the lugs in my neighborhood when walking. (thats how i found the other was missing). This happened just a few days after going to the dealership for my 10k oil change and rotation

Yes toyota will give you an oil and filter change, but only if 10k or close. I only had a bit over 3k when my 1st service came due. From what i can tell the filter wasn't touched.

If the dealership isn't going to change the oil filter then I don't even see to point in going in for the work. if they are going to not do it fully I may as well do it myself so it's done right.
I'm definitely going to be watching as best I can as they work on my truck when it's time to take it in.

I did just look up the Toyota care brochure on their site it says oil and filter change, only at 10k and 20k.
If dealerships are not changing the filter then they are cutting corners on customers.
