    New (Month old) owner here..
Went to the local convenience store yesterday to buy some beer. Took my old 'beater' van.
The wife said 'You've got a brand new truck.. WHY aren't you diving that?'
I said' What... And get it dirty??'
    She doesn't get it... :D
I suppose it will take me awhile to 'Get over it' ... But I can't be the only one..

Nope. Exact opposite. Brand new truck went on a road trip with three very dirty dogs in the back seat.

I had my last truck for 19 years.

When I bought the 2016 I was surprised how “expensive” pickup trucks had become.

After laying out $30 large, let’s just say I babied that truck for the first few months, lol.

It's an expensive chunk of metal and plastic, but it is not a collector's item nor an investment. Just drive it and take reasonable care of it.

My truck has zero dents, zero scratched, but some rock chips. 2 years and I still put a cover on it and kiss it good night.

    To add to my response.

When was the last time you looked at a scratched, dented, beat up truck and say "wow, thats a nice truck"

Why did you buy a new truck? Not driving it is like not having a truck at all!

I think driving to the store to get beer (as the OP did) is a perfect example of when it doesnt matter if you take out the new truck... you getting a 12 pack, not crossing a mountain or hauling a couch.

I guess I get it. I washed and "babied" it regularly for a couple months...then it got broken into, a shopping cart thrown into it, a kayak through the bed, some rando puked on my running boards, a sign flew out of a truck in front of me and broke my windshield, and that's just what I can remember. Now I just wash it when I can and vacuum out the inside after trips. It's a truck, not a garage queen. I can understand where you're comin from, but not on the the truck. Use it, do what you can to keep it looking decent and running right, but don't not use it because you're worried about it. That first scratch will come. My pops has a "garage queen". yeah, I don't touch thing for fear of potentially curbing a wheel or forgetting to take something out of my pocket and imprinting the leather.

Ohhhhhh man, but it's so new and pretty! LOL! (Maybe I should add that, running to the 'corner store' for me, is about a mile of dirt, rocks, gravel, etc.. Before I hit pavement...)
And it's the first 'brand new' anything I've bought in 25 years so... There's that... LOL!

Just the other day. A person's Taco was modded up to the expedition level but was covered in pinstripes and trail dirt. I thought it looked well done and well used.

Some peeps just down the street had a Pickup with a flatbed. Looked crawler good. They did some resto on it with flat AG paint and a bed. Props for both versions.

The other day, I was admiring mine, with all its imperfections, in the red light from the wildfire smoke.
