Way I see it, anyone can keep a truck looking perfect. Doesn't take effort. Hell, you don't have to use it at all. But not everyone can use their truck and truly enjoy it for what it is, pinstripes, dents, and broken pieces and still look at it years later with an even greater passion and bigger smile then when they first took it off the lot

Not driving the truck you bought is just weird... Have you ever ordered a pizza and not eaten it because it looked good? Weird. Or bought a house and not lived in it? Also weird... It's just a vehicle. Drive it and quit being weird.

It’s incredibly freeing not worrying about things like that.

    Right?

Having a brand new shiny vehicle with the new car smell feels good.

Not everyone gets the opportunity- enjoy it.

Oh, I know. This was an expensive purchase for us that I was thinking I would only be used once a week because I was 2wheel addicted. The first scratch happened in the first week. But being such a joy to drive, it ended up (thankfully) being 50-50 and now more than that.

I see a ton of pristine Pickups and 1st Gens running around here in the commute. You have no worries about finding something, someday. The matter will be prying it away at a reasonable cost.

I'm not concerned about getting it dirty because spending a few hours on a Saturday morning cleaning it from top to bottom is super enjoyable for me. (Meanwhile, cleaning the house for 15 minutes is torture. Weird.)

More broadly, yeah, I get it. I'm keeping a beater for commuting and BS stuff like grocery shopping to keep the miles low on the truck, and for tire wear/gas/maintenance savings. It is "just a truck" - but a truck I've spent and will continue to spend reckless amounts of money to enjoy. It represents a fair financial impact to my life. So while it's not an investment, I'm in no hurry to wear it out.

But when I do choose to enjoy it, I don't hold back in fear of scratching the paint or dinging the fender. I just want my dents to come from something fun and not a stray shopping cart.

As long as you dont subscribe to the "its a truck, its supposed to be scratched and dented to shit" motto that I swear half the people here are on.

    I get ya,

When I bought my last new vehicle I pampered the hell out of that machine and took the best care of it I possibly could and tried to keep her spotless and the miles low on her.. but I noticed this attention to maintain the luster dropped for me after I got my first parking lot ding!!

Enjoy that new truck how and whenever you please, and let your lady know you are also keeping that classic van alive for Barrett Jackson!
