Is there any known paint that is THE color of our dash? I have warn spots from a cell phone mount that I want to repair. 2003, gray (or whatever Toyota calls it) interior. I don't want close, have that now with a feeble attempt to cover the scratches. Looking for as close to perfection as I can get.

I have been hiding it with a Dash Mat for a while but now just want to fix.

BTW, the Dash Mat is available if someone is interested.

I hear Budweiser beer cans can make a pretty good patch...:)

Seriously, though -- what I'd probably do is shoot the entire instrument panel in the gray color of your choice. The perfection you're looking for is gonna be hard to get.

The IP comes out completely with a bit of work, and a lot of bolts and screws. Might even price a new one or a junkyard donor with no damage.

Here are two IPs side by side, from when I changed tan (oak) and grey interiors between trucks. These are viewed from the back underside, obviously.

On something that old even if the color was an exact match to orginal it wouldn't match the rest of the faded stock interior.
So you would have to update the entire Interior to have it all match.
I'd suggest living with what you have.

Don’t think there is a bunch of fade, but good point. My original post was just to see if someone had found something that works really well. Okay, maybe it does not have to be perfect but 95% match would be ideal. My OCD is kicking in.

Pretty sure the color is officially charcoal - may help in your search for something to use.

I went to o'Reilly's for my 2001 dodge, they mixed the code for the trim level and put it in a spray can. Matched great.

Interesting, even interior colors? I get the exterior and that makes sense, just wondering if the same applies to the interior color matching. Thanks for the option.

Yep, not all the stores do it, but once i had the code for the color i watched them mix it and pressurize the spray can.

Parts List for 2000 Tacoma tags that color as "blue/gray".
I used Plasti Dip Gunmetal Gray on several screw heads for "blue/Gray" Door Scuff Plates and Seat Adjuster covers and the color match was excellent.
I have thought about using it on my dash, but never just to patch. Never did it. Anyone use PlastiDip on interior paneling, dash, etc.?

    Here is my experience:
For my 2000 PreRunner ExtraCab I got a brown 4Runner locking glove box latch from @BartMaster1234.
    It looks like this one:
    001-Locking Glove Box Latch-Brown.jpg
    My glove box is "Gray/Blue".
Locksmith quickly keyed the lock to match my ignition/door locks.
The brown plastic trim pries off and I "painted" the surfaces that show with PlastiDip GunMetal Gray.
002-Plastic trim for Locking Glove Box-PlastiDip Gun Metal Gray.jpg
Here is the plastic trim ready to be snapped back on the latch/lock assembly.
003-Plastic trim ready to be snapped back on latch-Lock assembly.jpg
Locking latch installed in glove box door. Pretty good color match, yes?
    004-Showing color match.jpg
20 year old scratched-up Glove Box door looks pitiful compared to the latch!
So, Plasti-Dip the entire glove box door!

I have no idea how durable this will be. Time will tell!

Awesome. Thanks for the post. I picked up a 2001-2004 center console and the newer gray color doesn't match the older blue/gray. Just ordered a can of gunmetal plastidip after seeing your pics. Hopefully I can get it to match a little better.

Got it painted finally. Waiting on a mounting bracket and cup holder tsbs before mounting, but will get pics once I install to show color match. After I painted a few small pieces, I brought them to the truck to compare the paint to the existing interior and it was pretty close. Looking forward to seeing it fully installed...

Before vs After on each shot...

Well, guess I can update after over a year of use. As expected, the plastidip on the arm rest peeled off after a few months. On the plus side, the rest of it seems to be holding up well...
