This is a halibut I gaffed over the rail this summer. I know it’s not on a rod, and reel. But still caught on hook, and line.

More small water smallies. It was a slow night but we still managed a few. My previous trip ended with a hole in the bottom of my kayak and six gallons of water inside. I cut up a 5 gallon bucket and learned to plastic weld in order to fix it. Was happy to find that it was bone dry after last nights float.

Modesty is a fine quality but more importantly: what did he eat?

Live-lined finger mullet. On a MH 9’ setup. So much fun. I had 3 great days of fishing. Many blues caught with some puppy drum mixed In. The amount of Finger mullet in the wash off ramp 55 was like I never seen before. Any throw of the net got some. Even netted a 15” sea mullet. Unfortunately the weather forecast forced me to make the difficult decision to come home a day early, but better that than get trapped when the road get closed. Oh well, thats Hatteras in September, you pay your money and take your chance.

Slipped out for a couple hours yesterday evening hoping the topwater bite would be on but it wasn’t. Still managed a couple fish though.
