Recently got my first MacBook, which is also my first apple computer. Had an iPhone for several years.

Anyways one thing I’m not understand/liking is trying to organize my music file storage. I understand you can make folders just like windows. However whenever I download or transfer music and go to move it from one folder to another, the computer seems to just make a duplicate, instead of moving the file. Thus I end up losing storage, and with multiple tracks in my iTunes for the same file. Also I notice when “moving“ the file it also deletes the info I attached in iTunes along with the album art.

Any way to stop this or better organize my files/media?

I believe you need to do all your organization within iTunes application. So you need to import music into the iTunes library. I'm quite anti-mac and ant-iTunes but I helped my wife deal with those issues. I'm sure someone else can chime in.
