Has anyone recently ordered a DiamondBack tonneau cover? I am curious if they are really taking 42-45 Days to ship. Thanks!

I ordered one back it June. It took the full 43 days to ship.

That being said, it was 100% worth the wait. This cover will absolutely last longer than the truck, it's a tank. Super secure and versatile. I have zero complaints.

@MJTH - Thanks for the response. I am glad to hear that you're happy with yours. I ordered one sight unseen but was looking for the most secure option out there and this looked to be the one. It also looks pretty bad ass :) Would love to see yours installed if you felt so inclined to post pictures.

Just got back from a trip so the truck is pretty dirty.
I'd highly recommend getting the factory power locking trail gate kit if you have a 3rd gen. Cost me 123$ ordered directly from toyota and took about 3 beers worth of time to install. Plug and play, works flawlessly. It's a pain to have to lock the tailgate with the key every time you want the bed to be secure. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/2019-tailgate-lock-pn-pk3b6-35js0.637471/

Thanks @MJTH! Wow, the diamondback looks great on the cement! Thanks for the pictures. I really appreciate the nudge on the tailgate lock. I was looking at those. It does seem almost necessary and that it should come standard. I'll order one!!

I bought the unpainted Diamondback SE to save a little cash, but I intend on painting it in the near future. The plain cover is great but it's highly, highly reflective in the sun. It's blinding in a hot/piercing offensive kind of way right into your freakn eyes on a sunny day. The good thing about the plain SE cover I suppose, is that with a plain surface, it's ready to paint (any color) myself at a cost far less than from Diamondback or local Bed liner companies.
Just a heads up for those considering the plain SE cover.

    ***UPDATE***

Just completed painting my Diamondback SE. I decided to use Herculiner to complete the job. the link is provided below.

    https://www.amazon.com/s?k=Herculiner+HCL1B8+Brush-on+Bed+Liner+Kit%2CBlack&ref=nb_sb_noss

I followed directions minding the section regarding prepping aluminum for paint. So I just got the self etching spraypaint from O'Reilly Auto Parts (link shows green primer..I actually got the gray color)

    https://www.oreillyauto.com/detail/...rimer+series+self+etching+gray+dap16907&pos=0

The Herculiner kit comes with a scouring pad, but that pad is only good enough if you want to torture yourself by scouring the entire aluminum cover by hand. So I ended up buying one of those standard wire wheel brushes (found at Walmart) to attach to my drill for quick scuffing. I also used a small standard wire brush to easily complete scuffing the areas that the wire wheel couldn't easily get to. I even used steel wool which worked great to get all areas in-between the stamped diamond plates, but you'll need at least two pads per panel if you want to go that route.

Regarding the bad reviews on Amazon, some people complained that the rollers provided by Herculiner were useless, but for this application they worked perfectly.

Anywho, enough of me yapping...here's a few pics for reference.

@jakezna - very good note about the reflectivity of the plain cover. Also a great idea having the plain one panted. Post pictures when you get it done!

I will say the factory black coating is extremely good and I personally thought it was worth the price. I carry loads of wood, pelican boxes, all sorts of stuff, on top of the cover and it hasn't come close to damaging it.

$2400 with taxes, kinda on the edge. Anyone notice issues with the locks or hydraulics over time?

Buying an AluCab canopy camper so I no longer need it

Nice, how close could you get to the central Texas area?

Any thoughts on the Diamondback vs Retrax - thinking the Retrax gives more options to access the bed, even with a Rack. Also, Retrax seems pretty strong. Has bed access been a problem for anyone using the Diamondback?

FWIW, I went from Retrax to the Diamondback. I got tired of not having about a foot of bed that the canister took up.
