Looks so nice! What was your price out the door? Do you have some interior shots?

There’s someone in my area selling a cap it bulldog series I believe it’s “CL” for $1000. It’s one years old. Any thoughts on this deal? Or brand in general?
I’ve message the guy who posted up his bulldog canopy couple pages back asking how it’s holding up but no response.

Reviving an older thread with some new info.

I've noticed Cap-It is selling a new version of their Bulldog Series caps for 2021. I reached out them on Instagram and actually got a response. They said the new caps are built by TAG (Truck Accessory Group) who own LEER, Snugtop and Century where their current lineup of caps is made by Range Rider in Canada. When I was looking at my local Cap-It (months ago), the sales guy showed me both a Bulldog (Range Rider) and a LEER cap. The fibreglass on the LEER was twice as thick and seemed to be a better product. I've heard from other sellers of Range Riders that they're "a good product, but they're not a Leer". It seems like in the truck cap world, LEER (and likely ARE) are the gold standard.

I further inquired about pricing but have yet to hear back. I've asked for a comparison between the new Bulldogs (2021) and the current lineup. They mentioned the new Bulldgos will give them more options across more truck brands. They also mentioned they will come with Cap-It's "lifetime guarantee".

I'm a little disappointed these caps are likely built in the US as I was hoping to support a Canadian company especially during these harder times. But if the quality is that of LEER and the price point is similar, I'd likely go for the 2021 Bulldog.

I ordered an ARE from Canopy West out of Surrey BC. It is the z series with drop down front window, utility tracks on the top,
the double rope lighting (that comes on with prop switch), power locking. I ordered it on Dec 01 & the eta is March?
This is for a DCLB - base price $4100 with extras & taxes I ended up paying $5000 all in (& that is discounted) I'm in Nanaimo & the closest dealer was Victoria (Action sales) they wouldn't negotiate at all. Took my business to Canopy West in Surrey... saved about $800 but still pretty damn expensive for a cap.

    Good looking cap!

The current Bulldog lineup is built in Canada (by Range Rider in Summerland, BC) but it seems they’re going a different direction for 2021.

    Here’s what I was quoted for a fully-optioned cap (2021 edition)

“$1,895 Cap-it Bulldog CS truck cap
    $220 Interior Headliner
$660 Thule tracks, towers, bars & locks (installed)
$390/ea side windoors with sliding windows
    $220 Removable front sliding window
$50 upgrade 12V adjustable LED tube light (I'd recommend for lots of light) - you can even order this light above each of the side doors with gas prop switches so they automatically turn on when you open the door (extra $100)

$3,825 + taxes and installation and you've have one of the best, fully featured, truck caps out there.

Finance options are available. Let me know if I can be of any further assistance.”

I found this aluminum canopy, it was built for a first gen so the outside doesn’t fit perfect but the inside box rails are perfect and I like it on my tacoE6EA5C7C-E409-4B83-AE92-0B469F5C2BF6.jpg

Anyone selling a cap for a long box? I'm in the Lower Mainland of BC. By the way, Riggedtaco, that is a very nice canopy. Love aluminum.

Thanks Riggedtaco but I am not on Facebook. I want to stay off that platform...it's the 1984 thing (George Orwell). I expect that Facebook will become a problem for those who have entrusted (a lot of) information to it. But I can have a friend check what is listed there. Thanks for the tip.

Just ordered an ARE V-Series with some goodies. This was the best bang for the buck I could find and I purchased it through Action Car and Truck. I was going to buy their "house-brand" Action cap (basically an ARE CX Classic) but it wasn't available with the side vented windoors I wanted in a short bed. All in, I'm about $4200 out the door. I cross shopped these caps with Cap-It Bulldogs (which have a great starting price but quickly climb with options).

Has anyone done bed stiffeners with their caps? I've read at worst it does nothing, at best it's cheap insurance to keep your bed square.

Also, what are you doing for water-proofing? I know there's a gap between the front of the bed and the side rails that will need to be addressed but I want this to be as waterproof as possible to keep the dogs happy.

Got my ARE V-Series put on. I'm really impressed with the colour match. They did forget to ship the roof rack and one of the windoors closes a little funny but I'll keep an eye on it. I'll be getting it ceramic coated once the paint cures to match the truck.
