TOTAL CHAOS - UCA Maintenance (Lubricating Bushings & Uniballs) *VIDEO*

So I just sprayed it and drive about 15-20 miles to work and it’s still creaking the same on dips and low speed bumps. Do the lower heim joints go bad? I still find it strange that it started all of a sudden right after I did the UCA bushings and uniball. I may loosen the bolts and pump some more grease in this weekend to see if that does the trick.

 

The reason people over grease these control arm bushings is because the tolerance is to loose. New bushings just fall right in, they should be a light press fit. So when you grease them your basically riding on the cushion of grease. Then the bushings squeeze and leak all the grease out as you drive. Ive replaced my bushings and it made no difference, they clunk when turning on pavement, they clunk offroad pretty good, and they cause tire vibration at 45+mph. Some nice fitting bushings would really compliment $600 UCAs.

 

How often should I regrease my uca

 

we recommend every oil change or every other depending on performance. Just make sure they aren't getting over greased.

 

I plan on doing this with my LCAs

 

My UCAs are coming in and I'm getting ready to do a suspension install. Are the UCAs bushing pre-installed with grease already? Or will I be doing that?

You will need to initially lube the bushings when installing, and then after installation, id pump more grease to the bushings and add some lube to the uniball. That way youre starting fresh

 

Yes. Our kits come with Super Lube so you will have the grease for the bushings at install. After install you can add more grease once on the car if it needs it.

 

Can I use this lubricant for the tc uniballs?

Maintenance for PN: 96504-H? No bushings or zerk point. They’re squeaking like crazy.

Was experiencing a occasional clunk on the drivers side when making sharp turns. Was worried it was the tie rod or lower ball joint but they look fine upon inspection. The UCA was shedding a ton of grease (did some extended off Roading this weekend). I regreased them and now I can’t reproduce the clunk.


Has this happened to anyone else?

I’m happy the clunk is gone but hoping to confirm it was the UCA bolt and I’m not missing something else (ie bigger problem is still there and I’m just not able to reproduce the sound)

 

that's the sound of performance!
you can use the same lube for the uniballs if you want to however.

 

If you performed a bolt check and everything was good it should be ok. Could have been a lot of things that cause the clunk. running low on grease in the arm shouldn't cause a clunk and a lot more squeak. Just make sure you don't over grease the pivots

 

what do you mean when you say over grease? I get a lot of grease leaking out of the edges of the bushings.

So basically loosen the bolt. I assume if I’m seeping a lot of grease when off roading I should grease often. That’s not a problem right. Just a problem when you over grease the bushing under pressure.

 

correct, loosen the bolt and add grease.
if you are seeping grease from off roading its most likely they are slightly over greased and just working out the excess. We recommend greasing them when doing your basic maintenance, such as changing your oil, go ahead and give it some grease. that should be a good interval.
