Any ANG pilots on here? Been considering it lately. I thought I aged out 4 years ago but the age cutoff is actually 33.

    Just the basics
Both my parents were CA ANG. Now this was a long time ago, 60s-80s. My dad being the pilot, mom being a flight/hospital/command nurse. It's more like a family since you're not moving to different duty stations such has other branches do. Both my parents loved their time in the air guard.

Last night NASA TV was showing the documentary for Friendship 7. I haven't seen it since it went around to schools as a "film". Still does a good job of telling the story.

One thing I noticed one of the main parts of the musical score is the same as was used in Jimmy Stewart's, pardon me, General Stewart's movie Strategic Air Command.

    NICE!

Just found out our club is planning to get amphibs for the Huskies. I'm sure our insurance is about to go up, but I'm pretty excited. Planning a Florida vacation to get my sea rating.

    Nice! Jack Browns?

One thing to always ask yourself when flying an amphib: Where am I landing? Where is my gear?

    Guess that's two things.

Was actually looking here since I can learn on an amphib Husky like the club has, but also since I can get some hours in a beaver as well.

Nice - the USAF is the exact same age as I am (in years). I guess I never realized that fact till a few years ago. BTW -- I was in the USAF many years ago when the "force" was only 20 years old

Makes sense doing your rating on the same type as you'll be flying. And having the opportunity to fly a legend doesn't hurt either.

Check out these guys. They use a Husky on amphibs, and having 5-8 hours of amphib Husky time may help you out with insurance. If nothing else, you'll already be familiar with the system.

    http://www.ryanseaplanes.com/

Edit: I see that you've already heard of them. I did my SES with them and had a great time, and have recommended them over JB due to the amphib option.

They do that here in Utah as well. what's really crazy is sometimes you'll be mountain biking near the shore mid-spring and there will be an entire tree filled with trout from where they overshot the drop by *that* much and the trailing end went long into the woods.

Did a little VFR on top the other evening. This is a completely unedited photo, straight off the phone.
