Was this part here think it was just the connector that broke as twigs were wedged under that protector plate that damaged the connector CD7A9FFB-7012-4C3D-9EAD-20CB1EC0D36B.jpg

That’s different, that one actually does the lock/unlock job.But still would not affect the 4x4 switching issue, it would simply not allow to lock the axle. I would start with front diff actuator and try manually switch to see if the problem resolves. They are famous to fail and I had one fail on me previously on 2nd gen, it didn’t dis-engage 4x4 in my case and would constant flash when I tried to go into 2HI. Had to manually switch it and replace actuator.

    Yeah good point!

I've seen a few pics of people on here where their front actuator failed from water getting in and corroding the crap out of the terminals (or a broken terminal) to the motor...

Got back from my trip up north. Taco did the 850km trip no problem. Got a shot of it with the frost melting off in the early morning. Any camera nerds in the house? I've been shooting Leica for almost 10 years now. Mostly street and people. Kind of the opposite of what I'd expect most people to be into here but figure I'd mention it.
