Truckshell that will hold the most weight

Looking to get a shell but need one that will hold 600 lbs static weight. Leer, Snugtop, etc I am not picky on brands. Thanks!

Anyone using a truck roof top tent with a shell?

 

From what I’ve seen, it’s worth the 4K

 

Only had my RSI a couple weeks and love it! And I’ve had experience with tonneaus, softoppers, and fiberglass shells!

600 lbs is a huge number for a shell, especially since the weight is up high.

 

Sorry, the traveling weight is only 120lbs. Once parked it will be myself, my wife and my dog so that is why I need the 600 capacity

If you plan on doing any kind of wheeling, you’ll eventually damage a fiberglass shell or your truck. It’s damn near impossible to get them to be attached well enough to handle the weight that high up. I had a 150lb hard sell tent, Prinsu rack and solar panel on my ARE shell and in Moab it shifted forward and backwards hitting my cab and scratching the bed corners.

 

ARE CX hd is rated for 550lbs. It has a metal subframe so the weight is distributed to the bed rails rather than the fiberglass. Only issue is the crossbars width is fixed which was an annoying work around for my rtt on the long bed.

 

ARE CX HD , like said above rated for 550 dynamic and way more static.

 

I have a Snugtop with sportsman package, it’s rated for 500 pounds so 600 static would probably be no problem for you.

ARE CX HD that has the internal reinforcement. No problems with my 150lb tent while on bumpy class 4 roads.

 

HUGE fan so far. What I have is the evo model and it comes standard black. The evo c comes standard white. RSi has mentioned doing color matching in the future. Let me know if you have any questions I could talk about this thing for days.

 

Yes, you'll need to drill and bolt it to the bed and not use the clamping method. Bolted in 6 locations to the bed and it will not shift. Invest in some bed 'stiffners' too.

 

Have you been happy with the shell? Any idea on the weight? Do you think the aluminum frame also adds to the integrity of the frame while off roading?
