Magnuson Supercharger install and modifications

Do you have a boost gauge, or anyway to log to see how much boost in being created?

It seems..... Off. Could be the tune, but I've seen some giant boost leaks in my day. If a gauge or log shows low boost a leak could be the case.

It's in 6th gear so it was never going to accelerate quickly, it reminds me of stock acceleration in 6th gear. I think the hope was that it would be noticeably improved.

 

Thanks for the video! My gut feeling(hope) is they are keeping the tune lame until they get CARB approval. Then they will come up with a better tune

damn, kinda disappointing hearing the results. $7K is an awful lot of cash to come out unhappy.

 

So hopefully this weekend I will have some time to try and make a better video for you all. First I will have someone else work the phone. I will show some down shifts, WOT at different speeds. Maybe I can get a buddy to with a stock set up to do a side by side run with me.

It's going to be a bit for my truck.... everything is disassembled.... Steering rack, front diff, front brakes/suspension, tranny and transfer, bed and fuel tank are all out and on the floor.

Nope. They actually tuned the stock ECU. Did it all in person at their shop in MD.

Wonder why they made that one person with the SC have to buy a new ECU instead of just flashing it..

Yeah, that seems to be a Magnuson issue. Not a URD issue.

 

No I was specifically talking about URDs post of buying a new ECU for a truck, they posted it on facebook.

 

How would it be a Magnuson issue? What he's referring to is URD's first SC install for the 3GT. The guy was previously OVTuned. He could've just flashed to stock and gone from there. They instead went with a whole new ECU.

Did they really directly flash the ECU though? As far as I know, all of their products use piggyback, and I'd heard the 3GT was no different.

 

Since no one bothered to read post #61, I'll reiterate, Rotrex durability is not up to OEM daily driver standards, IMO. The only way I would run one is with a massive oil cooler for the traction drive... and maybe if some f'n gnomes ventured out of the southern Vermont Forrest and installed a new unit for free every 5k miles, at night, while I am sleeping.

 

Boost/vac gage would be an excellent diagnostic but how much boost is it supposed to be running? I would also make sure the bypass is operating correctly.

It would be interesting to log actual throttle angle (not pedal). We know it’s limited in 1st and OD gears from the factory. VF thread outlines how to make changes. Hopefully Magnuson incorporated that in the tune.

 

Sounds like the computer is controlling the throttle vs speed.
