Tacoma - OVTUNE - VFTUNER - Update Info and Original Development

Just outta curiosity here since fuel pumps came in to a small talk....I got a 17 OR 70k Miles almost...i just shit the bed on a trail saturday afternoon. P0087 came up and my truck isnt running anymore at all. Any other 17 models get a fuel pump replaced or affected? I hope im not the only one. Its brutal to have your truck just not run anymore mid trail then have to get dragged out and winched out everywhere because you cant move/steer lol.

 

Mine is a 17 off-road, not on the recall list, haven't had any problem yet.

 

That sounds like a tuner-based version of the OR's "crawl control." Cool idea!

 

I tried setting it to 5, but it didn't work.

 

Which fuel pump went out?

 

Had mines done a month ago but they don’t have new replacement recall part. They used a brand new replacement but with old part number. Could happen again in future. I checked with vf tuner and confirmed my ecu has not change or been updated. I went in with the 2.0 tune installed too lol

 

Mine got replaced by Toyota under goodwill @68000 miles

Your tune is based on the regular gas files, what benefit are these going to give you that running higher octane straight from the pump wouldn't?

We also want to let you know our catted downpipes and higher capacity (non turbo) CNC oil pans will be stock in November

More oil more better.

 

higher capacity pan means less chance of anything catastrophic going wrong when on trails at crazy angles, or when constantly revving high, etc.

It's not a huge increase. Goes from stock 6.2q to 7q.

 

This might be something to consider for those who crawl. I have lost oil pressure going down steep hills at funky angles.

Was there some general performance improvements expected on a stock truck down low at all with the catted dumps? I had it (a purchase of them) in the back of my mind and I will likely never invest in turbos or SC....and with the latest VFTuner tweaks to my tune I am finding smiles daily.
