    I want to tow a trailer that’s around 3000lbs, am I gonna needs trailer brake controller installed?

    Certainly couldn't hurt, but you are not going to be happy towing that trailer with your Tacoma. It will do it, but it won't be pretty.

    My boat and trailer are about 2300 lbs. The trailer has surge brakes. It tows just fine.
