Let's See Your Cats!!!

He was trying to sweet talk me into giving him a bite of my food. Not happening dude.

 

The kittens are 2 weeks old today. They are all healthy, gaining weight everyday and their eyes are mostly open.

 

Any advice on how to get a cat to stop bolting down their breakfast/dinner?
Yesterday, Marty downed his in a blink of an eye then proceeded to vomit the entire contents back up on the hardwood floor in the kitchen.
I have to feed Ollie & Harry first then wait a few minutes to feed Marty, if not he'll choke down all of his share then go after the other guys meals while they're still eating.

This morning I let him eat half and then took it away for a minute. He screamed at me like an air raid siren. Didn't yak it all up though.
Problem is: I don't always have the time to do this.

 

That's the only way I've ever been able to get a cat eat slower, i.e. dole it out to home in smaller pieces.

 

I had a friend whose cat had this problem all the time and she used a slow feeder bowl. Forces them to slow down and work a bit more for it all and stopped the puking habits. Another option would just be a timed feeder with smaller amounts but I don't think that would work well in a multi cat household very well.

How old?

 

Thank you! He's almost seven months now. We also have a German Shepherd and he holds his own with her!

 

Kibbles or wet food?

My wife's cat Mai Thai eats really fast, I think its just a lingering instinct from when he was feral his first year of life. Both cats only eat dry kibbles, but if we get the kind that are kind of large he will almost always yak them up after eating as fast as he does. We make sure to get the kind that are a lot smaller and it helps a lot

 

Enzo would do that, we’ve been using the same slow feed bowls for a few years now and it helps. He’ll flip it over but it at least throws the food all over and still slows him down lol

Yep - read that earlier today. Going to go to the local mom & pop pet store to see about getting one for the little food vacuum.
